    Job Title: Supply Chain Estimator

     

    FLSA: Exempt

     

    Department: Materials

     

    Summary: American Rheinmetall is seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Supply Chain Estimator to support our commercial and defense programs by developing supply chain strategies for our customer proposal cost estimates. This role is critical to ensuring competitive proposals, compliant pricing, and efficient procurement planning in alignment with government regulations and mission requirements

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

     

    • Request and analyze quotes for materials, components, and services across the supply chain as required to build cost estimates.

    • Collaborate with engineering, sales, program management, and other cross functional departments to gather technical data and sourcing requirements.

    • Collaborate with purchasing to identify qualified suppliers, obtain competitive pricing, and build estimates consistent with purchasing sourcing strategies.

    • Coordinate with the Small Business Liaison to identify and engage small business suppliers.

    • Incorporate complex variables into estimates, including tariffs, foreign exchange rates, market volatility, lead time, capacity constraints, non-recurring engineering (NRE) costs, and tooling.

    • Participate in supplier negotiations and cost-reduction initiatives.

    • Support make-or-buy decisions and risk assessments for sourcing strategies.

    • Ensure supply chain timelines are incorporated into proposal estimates. Identify and assess risks and communicate potential impacts to support informed decision-making and risk mitigation strategies.

    • Prepare Basis of Estimate (BOE) documentation for proposals and contract bids as required

    • Develop, maintain and continuously update a comprehensive cost database of historical supplier pricing data and industry benchmarks to improve future estimate accuracy.

    • Ensure compliance with government acquisition regulations, including small business subcontracting requirements

    • Participate in proposal reviews, audits, and fact-finding meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

    • Present cost data, estimating strategy, and pricing recommendations clearly to senior and executive leadership.

    • Develop, refine, and enforce standardized estimating methodologies and tools across the organization to ensure consistency and compliance.

    • Partner with Launch Team, Purchasing, and other cross functional departments to orchestrate a smooth and accurate post award handoff of procurement requirements.

    • Manage priorities and deliver results while meeting the standards of both Procurement and Estimating functional leads.

    Education and/or Experience

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, finance, engineering, business, or related field.

    • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in cost estimation, cost engineering, supply chain finance, or strategic sourcing, preferably in the aerospace and defense environment.

     

    Reasoning Ability

     

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
