Location Description
The Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania facility proudly produces iconic pet food brands like 9Lives®, Gravy Train®, and Kibbles 'n Bits®. This location also features an on-site Distribution Center, ensuring efficient delivery of products to customers.
Bloomsburg is home to Bloomsburg University, a municipal airport, and a landmark Town Park offering acres of recreational activities. The town also hosts one of the largest and longest-running fairs in the country. With so much to do and see, Bloomsburg is a great place to live, work, and play!
Responsibilities
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive **Maintenance Planner** to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our maintenance operations. In this position, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities that support equipment uptime, safety, and operational excellence. Working closely with the Operations Management Coordinator (OMC), Maintenance Supervisors, and cross-functional teams, you will develop job plans, manage work order backlogs, prepare shutdown schedules, and ensure all resources—labor, materials, and tools—are aligned for successful execution. This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and is passionate about continuous improvement. This position will report to the Sr. Maintenance Manager.
+ Ensure the overall success of the maintenance planning function.
+ In partnership with the OMC and Maintenance Supervisor, facilitate and execute daily and weekly scheduling processes.
+ Maintain an accurate and up-to-date backlog status.
+ Review and verify the accuracy of new maintenance work orders.
+ Enter data into the system to convert maintenance requests into work orders.
+ Visit job sites for all new maintenance work orders to:
+ Confirm the scope of work.
+ Develop preliminary labor and material estimates.
+ Document findings using the Planning Checklist.
+ Determine the appropriate level of planning required for each work order.
+ Collect necessary information to develop written job plans.
+ Define the actual sequence of work (job steps).
+ Identify required lockouts, tag-outs, and permits.
+ Verify completeness and accuracy of job plan information.
+ Estimate labor hours (rough and detailed) required to complete tasks.
+ Identify parts, materials, and special tools needed.
+ Provide cost estimates including labor, materials, and contracted services.
+ Initiate pick lists for storeroom parts and materials.
+ Write purchase requisitions for direct purchases of external parts and materials.
+ Assemble and deliver complete “Job Packages” to the Maintenance Supervisor.
+ Ensure all planning-related information is accurate, complete, and accessible.
+ Reconcile work demand (man-hours) with available resources for weekly and shutdown schedules.
+ Identify needs for borrowed labor or contractor support.
+ Update EAM files and backlog to reflect completed work.
+ Maintain equipment history files to improve future planning.
+ Coordinate and share planning information with other planners.
+ Prepare preliminary schedules for shutdown events and facilitate related meetings.
+ Publish and distribute final shutdown schedules.
+ Coordinate manpower requirements for shutdowns.
+ Use MS Project to develop shutdown timelines.
+ Prepare reports and statistics for post-shutdown “Lessons Learned” meetings.
+ Support projects of limited complexity as assigned; Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
+ Associate’s degree (or equivalent work experience) in Technical or Manufacturing discipline required.
+ Up to two years of experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or a similar technical or operations support role.
+ BS/BA in a technical or related field is preferred
+ Five or more years of engineering or maintenance experience in a plant environment preferred.
+ In depth understanding of plant production and packaging processes from a technical and procedural standpoint.
+ Experience with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Project
+ Five or more years of engineering or maintenance experience in a plant environment preferred.
+ 4 years using EAM/CMMS systems. Infor EAM experience is desirable.
+ Knowledge of maintenance management principles including but not limited to precision maintenance, preventive maintenance, shutdown and contingency planning; desire to work with maintenance disciplines as a team
