    Position Overview:

    O’Rourke Middle School is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Long-Term Substitute Librarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will foster a welcoming and engaging library environment that encourages literacy, research skills, and lifelong learning among students. This is a temporary position anticipated to continue through the end of March.

    Responsibilities:

    + Manage daily library operations, including circulation, cataloging, and collection maintenance.

    + Support students and staff in locating, evaluating, and using information effectively.

    + Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources and information literacy into classroom instruction.

    + Promote reading and inquiry through creative programming and displays.

    + Maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging space for students to explore and learn.

    Qualifications:

    + NYS certification as a School Librarian or eligibility for certification

    + Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    + Passion for promoting literacy and supporting diverse learners.

    + Experience in a school library setting preferred.
