The Idaho Transportation Department is hiring aProject Manager 2to join ourEnterprise Technology Services team located in headquarters, Boise, ID.
This position will manage a variety of IT and business projects. Projects include efforts across multiple departments within ITD and efforts across state agencies. Project budgets range from several thousand dollars to several million dollars. The main functions are to manage budgets, deliver projects on schedule, manage resources, manage vendors and deliver projects to customer's satisfaction. Many of the projects are high visibility and high risk. This position will also be responsible for providing guidance to contract project managers. This includes providing directions on deliverables, processes, and improvements.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Project Planning/Management
+ Manage project intake processes and documentation
+ Plan, initiate, and manage multiyear/multimillion-dollar Information Technology projects
+ Determine project cost, resource requirements, and project timelines
+ Write project charters, project plans, establish project controls, identify, recruit and manage project resources
+ Manage project budget, scope and resources. Responsible for gathering and reporting on ETS resource management
+ Transition project to operations and provide lessons learned documentation
Manage vendors and vendor contracts
+ + Work with the ITD units to clearly define requirements
+ Design a comprehensive Request for Information (RFI), or Request for Proposal (RFP) or a Project Service Order (PSO) to hire the necessary vendors
+ Define selection criteria to select the vendors
+ Design rules of engagement to monitor and manage the vendors
+ Manage deliverables from vendors, approve payments, write/negotiate vendor contracts, monitor the performance of the vendors, and initiate corrective action if necessary
+ Communication
+ Develop and deliver presentations and status updates to customers, sponsors, the ITD board, executive team, etc.
+ Chair project Executive Steering Committee Meetings, lead project meetings, interact with vendors, author public communications, publish newsletters, etc.
+ Collaborate with stakeholders from all internal divisions at ITD and with a variety of external Idaho agencies
+ Champion projects in a variety of forums
+ Manage Risk and Ensure Product Quality:
+ Use PMI best practices to ensure project and product quality through quality planning, quality assurance, and quality control
+ Use techniques such as quality metrics, benchmarking, performance metrics, cost-benefit analysis, baselining, and audits
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:
+ Planning and implementing projects including coordinating the development of project scope, goals, work plans, timelines, implementation strategies, and measurement processes/methods for assessing progress toward goals and project outcomes
+ Interpreting and explaining specialized or complex material into information usable by the public.
+ Developing and monitoring contracts.
+ Typically gained by one year of work experience in all the areas above.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ PMI Certification
+ 10+ years of enterprise project management experience
