Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic who is mechanically inclined and has welding experience. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of equipment used in processing corn into corn syrup and cornmeal. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with machinery repair, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting, and will thrive in a fast-paced, industrial environment.

Responsibilities

+ Perform preventative and emergency maintenance on processing equipment.

+ Conduct routine greasing and lubrication of machinery.

+ Repair and maintain pumps, conveyors, and related components, including changing seals, valves, and piping.

+ Execute motor alignments, bearing maintenance, fluid changes, and gear box replacements.

+ Replace belts on augers and maintain conveyor systems.

+ Diagnose mechanical issues and perform disassembly, repair, and reassembly of equipment.

+ Utilize welding skills for fabrication and repair as needed.

Essential Skills

+ Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills.

+ Ability to weld and work with metal components.

+ Experience in farm equipment maintenance or automotive repair.

+ Familiarity with industrial machinery and power transmission systems.

+ Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Previous experience in industrial maintenance, farm machinery repair, or automotive mechanics.

+ Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment

The work environment is an industrial processing building, which can be loud and hot. This position involves working in all areas of the building, including some outdoor work. Generally, you will work with one other person on major projects, but most preventative maintenance tasks are completed independently. Working hours are 10-hour shifts, with little flexibility on start times, between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM from Monday to Thursday. There are two openings with shifts from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, rotating on-call every 5-6 weekends. Automatically, you will be paid 5 hours of overtime for being on-call, even if you are not called in, with a minimum of 4 hours paid if called in.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wahpeton, ND.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
