Position Summary
The Lead Director, Marketplace Strategy & Partner Growth will serve as the enterprise leader responsible for shaping and executing CVS Health’s marketplace and partner growth strategy. This role will drive innovation, operational excellence, and financial performance across third-party marketplaces and emerging retail platforms, including innovative retail models. The Lead Director will lead a high-performing team, foster cross-functional collaboration, and serve as a key voice in enterprise commerce strategy.
This leader will be accountable for delivering sustainable growth through long-term strategic partnerships, digital merchandising excellence, and platform innovation, while also cultivating a culture of talent development and inclusion.
Core Responsibilities:
+ **Strategic Planning:**
+ Develop and lead the long-term vision for CVS’s 3P marketplace and retail partner ecosystem, aligning with enterprise growth objectives
+ Routinely engage with peers and senior leaders (VP, SVP) across stakeholder groups in thought partnership on policy development and strategy assessment, re-directing as necessary to meet dynamically changing regulatory environment
+ Closely monitors macro and micro trends in the sales environment to evaluate risk using internal/external data and subject matter experts; makes adjustments to strategy and actions accordingly
+ Navigates ambiguity and change to achieve goals despite potential obstacles
+ Leads and participates in meetings/calls with corporate partners and retail C-Suite Leaders to support overall agenda and governance strategy
+ Champions innovation by bringing ideas to own VP & SVP as well as the broader PCW Team in an agile way, while balancing growth against financial risk and incremental cost to the organization
+ Identify pilot programs, and scale new business models, revenue streams, and platform capabilities across 3P marketplaces, DashMart relationship and other partners
+ Maintains three-year roadmap for IT system enhancement investments to support overall agenda
+ Oversee assortment strategy, pricing, promotions, and digital merchandising across all marketplace platforms
+ Guide the execution of new item launches, curated collections, and category expansion initiatives
+ Ensure excellence in digital item setup, content management, and platform experience optimization
+ **Delivers Results:**
+ Build and maintain strategic relationships with key marketplace partners and internal stakeholders.
+ Own full P&L accountability for marketplace channels; lead strategic planning, forecasting, and performance reviews for this business
+ Oversee legal, procurement, and risk engagement for all partner agreements and contracts.
+ Oversee operations of partner storefronts, including catalog health, compliance, and customer experience.
+ Drive platform growth through data-driven insights, promotional planning, and cross-functional execution.
+ Leverages a results-oriented mindset to assign appropriate timelines and accountabilities for initiatives, projects and deliverables. Empowers the team to drive action steps to bring to completion
+ “Inspects What They Expect” – routinely inspects and monitors key processes and functions; institutes improvement measures as needed; holds team accountable to KPIs and deliverables
+ Optimizes and level sets expectations with stakeholders by partnering closely with Field Leadership, Store Operations, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Business Compliance Office, and IT to ensure appropriate levels of support and collaboration
+ Work cross-functionally with CSC partners to develop strategies and action plans to mitigate identified risks and opportunities tailored to the specific needs of each operating Division.
+ Optimizes use of data to support field execution of key programs and processes; ensures field feedback is incorporated by team into dashboards and reporting to improve utilization and effectiveness
+ Actively manages team resources to ensure OpEx, CapEx and IT Labor Hrs spend is within fiscal year budget; recommends and advocates for budget for upcoming fiscal year to support the strategic plan and agenda for the team
+ **Drives Improvement and Innovation:**
+ Continuously looks for opportunitieis to drive efficiency and productivtiy across the team; partners with IT and A&BC to identify and recommend implementation of new technologies to achieve this
+ Coaches and empowers team to identify new pathways to create simplicity for store teams and field leaders to execute key sales activities
+ Serve as a thought leader on digital commerce trends, delivery convenience, customer behavior, and competitive dynamics.
+ Fully embraces organizational improvement initiatives, acting as a change agent with one’s own team and peers
+ Provides both constructive and positive feedback on new initiatives to appropriate teams. Look for ways to break through implementation barriers rather than be impeded by them
+ **Talent Development:**
+ Foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, and accountability
+ Develops the capabilities of direct reports to take on progressively higher levels of responsibility while also estblishing and maintaining governance processes that ensure store and field leaders, by position, have the communication and tools they need to deliver effectively
+ Develops robust, diverse talent pools and succesion plans
+ Promotes a high-performance culture by clearly setting goals and expectations
+ Develop external and internal networks that support a pipeline of talent into day-to-day and governance team
+ Act as a coach and mentor for team to develop and support IDPs for high potential talent
+ Leverage existing enterprise tools, such as talent profiles and enterprise development programs, to develop talent
Required Qualifications
+ 10+ years’ experience of developing, implementing and executing programs.
+ 10+ years of demonstrated successful leadership experience in a highly competitive multi-unit environment. Relevant sectors include retail, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.
+ 10+ years’ proven track record of influencing others with and without authority
+ 10+ years’ experience building high-performing, successful teams developing key talent. Demonstrated passion for bringing new leaders along and helping them realize their ability to impact the business.
+ 10+ years’ experience actively taking on issues in a decisive manner, while keeping broader organizational dynamics in mind and empowering your leaders to obtain results through building behaviors.
+ 10+ years’ experience leading under pressure, adapting to changing dynamics in real time, and finding solutions that satisfy multiple ‘customers’ of the business.
+ 10+ years’ experience understanding and breaking down highly complex situations to deliver impactful solutions in real time.
+ 10+ years’ experience effectively demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills; very strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
+ 10+ years’ experience collaborating effectively across different business functions, different perspectives, and different styles of leadership.
+ 10+ years’ experience demonstrated ability to lead a large organization and manage a multi-million-dollar business unit to achieve financial and business results.
+ Expertise leveraging MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities.
+ Proven track record of leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives and managing P&L performance.
+ Deep expertise in digital merchandising, partner management, and e-commerce operations.
+ Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
+ Ability to think about the impact of decisions on the broader enterprise.
+ Consistently demonstrates strong executive presence.
+ Consistent record of exceptional customer service skills in increasing larger scopes of responsibility.
+ Deep understanding of Retail Store Operations at CVS, or in other like external business models
+ Demonstrated track record of high performance.
+ Any additional tasks as required by manager or supervisor.
+ Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
+ Regular and reliable attendance
+ **Travel-** Ability, and willingness, to travel regularly, 30% of time, based on needs of the business.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience working for a Fortune 5 company or working in retail field, or in our retail pharmacy company.
+ Experience in healthcare, retail, or consumer goods industries.
+ Familiarity with DashMart or similar fulfillment-based platforms.
+ Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and digital product development.
+ Demonstrated success in building and scaling high-performing teams.
+ Advanced degree preferred.
Education
Bachelor's required, Master's Preferred.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$100,000.00 - $231,540.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
