Northrop Grumman Space Sector** is hiring multiple **Systems Engineers - Level 5,** to join the **Program Engineering Management team** within **Launch Systems** located in **Chandler, AZ.
The Systems Engineer leads the technical management for development of advanced interceptor systems. Guides a multi-disciplinary team that defines the performance requirements, design, qualification, test, and production of interceptors. Executes project management, including integrated master schedule (IMS) and earned value management system (EVMS). Provides technical leadership of the multidisciplinary engineering team to successfully complete the required design and mission reviews, ensures compliance with both internal and customer requirements, executes timely completion of customer deliverables, and leads resolution of significant technical issues. The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge regarding missile system technologies and operations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in resolving complex problems are essential.
Job Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Program Chief Engineer and supports the Program Manager.
+ Decompose high-level missile interceptor requirements to create A-spec and B-spec requirements for sub-systems.
+ Influence and review the design, test, and production of missile interceptor components in the areas of avionics, missile structures, propulsion, EO/IR sensors, or modeling & simulation.
+ Perform missile system architecture trade studies.
+ Provide technical direction for all phases of programs from inception through completion.
+ Support and guide the definition and maturation of a missile technical maturation plan.
+ Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract.
+ Establish design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration, and test.
+ Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules, identify program challenges and obtain solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.
+ Ensure that designs and hardware builds meet all internal and Customer requirements, especially across engineering discipline boundaries. Provide justification and adjudicate through proper boards any deviations or waivers to such requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor of Science Engineering degree plus 12 years of experience; Master of Science Engineering degree plus 10 years of experience.
+ Must have an active Secret security clearance.
+ U.S. Citizen
+ Ability to Travel Occasionally (6-8 trips/year).
+ Candidate must have a minimum of 7 years directly related experience in project management.
+ Position is in Chandler, AZ and requires 100% on-site support.
+ Direct internal as well as external customer interface experience.
+ Demonstrated verbal and written communication excellence with customers and all levels of management.
+ Experience developing project cost and schedules and managing efforts via EVMS.
+ Exceptional leader of a multi-disciplined team.
+ Thorough understanding of design standards, procurement processes and configuration management.
+ Ability to work under limited supervision and complete projects on time and on budget.
+ Multi-disciplinary engineering experience -or- system engineering experience.
+ Perform other duties, as necessary, commensurate with the role of Program Manager.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Direct related experience on missile programs.
+ Earned Value Management System (EVMS) management experience.
+ Experience with missile systems including field operations.
+ Demonstrated technical expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: avionics, missile structures, propulsion, EO/IR sensors, modeling & simulation of interceptor subsystems.
+ Track record of translating high-level interceptor system performance requirements into A- and B- level specifications for sub-systems.

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
