Psychologist - Prospect Elementary School

Position Summary
The School Psychologist will provide comprehensive psychological services—including assessment, intervention, consultation, and prevention—to support Native American students' academic, behavioral, and emotional well-being. This role requires cultural humility, an understanding of historical and intergenerational trauma, and a commitment to building trust with tribal communities and families. This is a 10-month position. The salary for this position will be $49,037 to $89,059 annually, based on experience and in accordance with the current, negotiated Salamanca Teachers Association (STA) Contract. Key Responsibilities
+ Promote Learning Excellence by conducting culturally informed assessments and interventions that support academic achievement and individual learning needs.
+ Build Respectful Relationships with Native American students, families, tribal education leaders, and community partners.
+ Provide individual and group counseling using trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices that honor tribal values and identity.
+ Demonstrate Effective Communication when consulting with teachers, administrators, families, and tribal representatives to develop coordinated support plans.
+ Collaborate with school teams to design interventions that address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
+ Support culturally grounded prevention programs, including social-emotional learning, mental wellness, and positive behavior supports.
+ Advocate for equitable access to services, appropriate accommodations, and culturally aligned supports for Native American students.
+ Model Continuous Improvement by using data, feedback, and professional learning to refine practices and enhance student outcomes.
+ Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and tribal regulations.
+ Participate in school-wide initiatives that strengthen culturally inclusive practices and support overall student well-being.
+ All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Master's degree in School Psychology or related field with valid New York State certification or the ability to obtain it.
+ Demonstrated commitment to serving Native American students with cultural humility and respect.
+ Strong skills in effective communication, collaboration, and relationship-building with diverse communities.
+ Knowledge of culturally responsive practices, historical trauma, and strengths-based approaches for Native American youth.
+ Commitment to learning excellence and continuous improvement in student support services.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience working with Native American students, tribal education programs, or Indigenous communities.
+ Understanding of tribal sovereignty, cultural protocols, and Indigenous knowledge systems.
+ Training in culturally grounded mental health practices, restorative practices, or trauma-informed interventions.
+ Familiarity with MTSS/RTI frameworks and the NASP Practice Model.
