Description of Work Unit
Through stewardship and a commitment to excellence, the Departments of Central Receiving deliver reliable and diverse solutions to Colorado State University through multiple operational units. One of those core service units is FastPrint.
FastPrint is Colorado State University’s in-plant digital printing and bindery operation, providing cost-effective, high-quality production including full-color digital printing, wide-format graphics, finishing, and fulfillment. The unit maintains advanced production equipment, manages a copier fleet program, and supports the University’s communication needs through branded and efficient printed materials. FastPrint plays a vital role in supporting the academic, administrative, and research missions of CSU by ensuring professional, timely, and compliant printed output.
Position Summary
The FastPrint Manager provides strategic leadership and operational management for CSU’s comprehensive in-plant print and bindery services. Reporting to the Associate Director of Central Receiving, this position oversees three full-time staff and student support, directing operations that include digital printing, wide-format production, finishing, and bindery work. The Manager ensures FastPrint operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with University and industry standards, maintaining a high level of customer service and production excellence.
This role functions as a working manager, directly operating production equipment and performing technical tasks during peak workloads or to maintain output quality and workflow continuity.

Required Job Qualifications
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital print production or a related environment, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of digital imaging systems, wide-format printing, finishing and bindery operations, and production workflow management.
+ Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat), Fiery front-end systems, print management software (e.g., EFI PrintSmith), and/or Microsoft Office.
+ Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to supervise, train, and develop staff.
+ Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
+ Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintaining production equipment.
+ Strong customer service orientation and effective communication skills (oral, written, and interpersonal).
+ Ability to perform physical requirements of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods and working in noisy environments.
Preferred Job Qualifications
+ Experience in a higher education or complex institutional environment.
+ Experience managing budgets, cost recovery programs, and vendor contracts.
+ Advanced knowledge of digital and wide-format printing technologies, finishing processes, color management, and/or paper stock.
+ Experience implementing workflow efficiencies, software automation, or technology integrations in a print production setting.
+ Demonstrated success leading cross-functional projects and improving operational performance.
+ Working knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance in printing operations.
+ Ability to foster an inclusive, collaborative, and service-focused team culture.

+ Perform routine preventive maintenance, equipment cleaning, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
