GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Under the direction of the Executive Director for Human Resources, this position oversees student employment, HR events, special projects, and performs general HR duties.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Assists the Executive Director of Human Resources with the compliance of federal and state laws and SUNY regulations, including affirmative action, Civil Rights (Title IX, VAWA, sexual assault, sexual harassment), Article 129-B (Enough is Enough), FLSA, and Title VI.
+ Coordinates HR events, for example New Employee Orientation, Employee Appreciation Day.
+ Coordinates the employee evaluation and promotion process. Answers questions regarding evaluations and promotions adhering to Procedure 236, Procedure 230 and union contracts.
+ Monitors all part time, grants and independent study appointments. Processes all paperwork related to these appointments. Manages and oversees these appointments to meet reappointment or non-renewal deadlines.
+ Assists with the Faculty Load, Salary Roll and Student Employment process.
+ Creates customized reports and presentations that may include salary data, affirmative action data, survey results, etc., utilizing multiple systems such as Banner, Argos, Excel, etc.
+ Updates the internal and external facing HR websites. Creates digitally accessible documents for HR office use.
+ Assists with the 1095-C notification process. Ensures notifications are sent in a timely manner.
+ Represents HR on campus committees (e.g., Inclusive Excellence Committee, GUSTO, Chancellor's Awards)
+ Other HR Generalist duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION
A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or relevant field required.
EXPERIENCE
+ Minimum of three years' experience in Human Resources, preferably in higher education or the public sector.
+ Knowledge of human resources principles and practices required.
+ Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite.
+ Knowledge of HRIS, data systems and report building required.
+ Knowledge of labor laws and other compliance issues required.
+ Experience with onboarding and retention initiatives highly desired.
+ Experience in a unionized environment highly preferred.
+ SHRM-CP or other certification desired.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Excellent organization and time management skills required. Ability to positively promote Human Resources and act as a role model for employee morale and good employee relations. Must be capable of maintaining a high degree of confidentiality. Must be inclusive of all constituents. Is mindful of and develops accessibility solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use GCC facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically.

RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Executive Director of Human Resources. This position works closely with the Human Resources team and the college community at large.
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a 12-month, Management Confidential part-time position at 19.5 hours per week and is compensated at a rate of $23.42 per hour. Salary, benefits and conditions of employment are as set by Procedure 230.
