Morehouse School of Medicine formed a historic alliance with CommonSpirit Health, the second nonprofit health system in the nation. This alliance (More In Common Alliance) MiCA, will enable the creation of health equity by expanding diversity in the healthcare workforce. To meet that goal, Morehouse School of Medicine has doubled its class size in both the Medical School and the Physician’s Assistant program. Moreover, the partnership with CommonSpirit Health allows for expansion of the MSM -sponsored postgraduate training program to ten CommonSpirit Hospitals nationwide. To meet this monumental endeavor, CommonSpirit Health provided $115 million over a 10-year period. To fully realize all the goals of the alliance, MICA , along with MSM , will raise $ 100 million. The goal is to execute this vision over the next ten years.
Morehouse School of Medicine is seeking a Director of Administration and Finance who will be a strategic and creative team player responsible for participating in the development of the strategic direction, providing input on matters relating to the realization of the goals and objectives of MICA , as well as serving as a connecting link between the senior management of MSM and members of CommonSpirit Health.
This position will support the following areas:
Undergraduate and Graduate Medical Education relationships formed through the alliance, philanthropic endeavors supported through the alliance, and provide grant management services for any foundation or extramural funds secured to advance the vision of MICA .
Minimum Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressively responsible administrative experience, preferably in academic medicine, higher education, healthcare, or research settings.
• Demonstrated financial acumen and financial skills for modeling, controls, and budget management.
• Strong interpersonal and communicative skills and
• Highly detail-oriented and executes with precision and accuracy.
• Ability to convey and explain complex information in a simplified way to others and
• Proficiency in multi-tasking, time management, and in establishing and organizing priorities; and
• Experience in clinical practice operations, research administration, and educational program support.
• Proven track record in budget development and financial management of department unit funding sources ranging from $10M to 50M.
Preferred Qualifications
A master’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, health policy, public health, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university is preferred.
Previous experience supporting multiple administrative units with varying degrees of complexity.

Description of Job Duty
Responsible for developing and coordinating major financial reporting and budgeting activities for the More In Common Alliance
In concert with MICA leadership, will define, develop, and execute the business and financial plans of UME , GME , and philanthropic donations for the More in Common Alliance (MiCA) with Morehouse School of Medicine.
The incumbent will direct the financial strategy and day-to-day operations of the MiCA partnership, working with local and national partners to ensure the initial and ongoing ACGME accreditation of programs.
Lead the development and execution of the financial plan to support the strategic plan of MICA , optimizing the use of educational and financial resources to meet the vision and mission of MICA / MSM
Consult with management to guide and influence long-term and strategic decision-making within the More In Common Alliance.
Analyzes data to identify areas of progress or trends, draws conclusions, and develops recommendations for management consideration.
Serve as a Member of the UME , GME , and Research Workstreams, participating as needed and providing financial forecasting and analytics specific to the work stream.
Manage the budget for MICA , ensuring accurate record keeping and providing support documentation to the CSH financial team.
Makes recommendations to management related to long-range financial and cash flow analyses.
Prepares and analyzes statistical and financial reports, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
Keeps the Chief Administrative Officer informed of account status, authorizes expenditures, and identifies cost-effective alternatives.
Monitor and coordinate financial management information for residency/fellowship support of the newly established MICA residencies with the Finance Department.
Includes coordination with all affiliated agreements of the MiCA partnership with Morehouse School of Medicine.
Ensures compliance with institutional financial policies and reporting requirements.
Prepares, processes, and monitors budgets, project proposals, records, and invoices.
Determines and recommends options for addressing budget issues.
Analyzes data to identify areas of progress or trends, draws conclusions, and develops recommendations for management consideration.
Provides high-level administrative support to MICA .
Provides broad leadership and discretion as a liaison between MICA and department \unit leadership. Common Spirit leadership and other institutional areas
Resolve resident/fellow billing and reimbursement at all training sites that participate in the Single Source.
Ensure the provision of timely and complete information on residents and fellows across the MiCA Finance infrastructure, allowing for the appropriate review and submission of the Medicare cost report can take place.
Serve as a liaison and partner to MSM leadership and organizations (Finance, Operations, HR) and to Common Spirit cross-functional leadership.
Develop financial models, conduct benchmarking, and process analysis
Consolidate and analyze financial data considering More In Common Alliance’s goals and financial standing
Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance
Assemble and summarize data to structure sophisticated reports on financial status and risks
Conduct business studies on past, future, and comparative performance and develop forecast models
Identify trends, advise, and recommend actions based on sound analysis
Track and determine financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with forecasts
Reconcile transactions by comparing and correcting data
Drive process improvement and policy development
Propose improvements to systems and methods of work and analysis, and contribute to ensuring that they are continuously adapted to business requirements.
Collaborates with the Business Office and Accounting Department to oversee department reimbursements.
