    Salary: Starting at $90,000 to Depends on Experience (DOE).

    Primary Duties: The successful applicant will serve as 1 of 4 Deputy Attorneys General assigned as in-house counsel to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. Duties include representing PUC staff in utility rate cases and other litigated administrative proceedings, preparing pleadings, discovery, and settlement documents, and otherwise coordinating the presentation of PUC staff’s case. Deputies also prepare post-hearing decision memoranda, opinions, orders, and notices for the PUC. Other duties may include reviewing and drafting contracts, rules, policies; advising on employment matters, public records law, and open meeting law issues; and advising on other legal issues arising at the PUC.

     

    Minimum Qualifications: Active Idaho State Bar license. Strong writing and editing skills. Ability to work independently and to work well with others (including with engineers, accountants, utility analysts, economists, and opposing counsel). Knowledge of utility regulation can be acquired on-the-job.

     

    Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with government practice, administrative law, appellate court practices, economics, finance, accounting, and antitrust are beneficial.
