Job Title: Phlebotomist I - Aiken
Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate work areas.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
+ Understand all physician orders and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
+ Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport, maintaining specimen integrity by storing them at required temperatures.
+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
+ Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Essential Skills
+ 1+ years of recent phlebotomy experience
+ Blood draw experience with all age groups, from pediatrics to geriatrics
+ Experience with a volume of 30+ draws per day and managing hard sticks
+ Excellent customer service skills
+ Available to work until 5:30pm
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 2+ years of experience is preferred
+ Strong customer service skills
Work Environment
This position is located in Aiken, SC, operating from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The work environment is a large facility, and the role requires standing for most of the 8-8.5 hour shifts. The phlebotomist will work in a team setting, dealing with a diverse patient group, including pediatric and geriatric patients. Training will be conducted at the patient service center locations for 1 to 2 weeks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Aiken, SC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.50/hr.
