The energy industry is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, transforming the utility landscape to enhance reliability and sustainability. In response, Jacobs is expanding its Energy & Power Solutions team to tackle the complexities of decarbonization and deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future. If you are seeking a meaningful career in the Energy sector, this may be the perfect fit for you!
In this position you will receive the opportunity to be mentored by Professional Engineers while you engage with our clients, evaluate their energy needs, develop concept-level plans and solutions, and take these through detailed design to provide for full execution of the solution. We offer and deliver a true "end-to-end" life-cycle service from exploration, development, operation, and repowering/retirement. Demonstrated abilities include a basic understanding of mechanical and process engineering disciplines. Prior experience in consulting and design engineering will be highly regarded.
Your primary responsibilities will focus upon providing consulting, advisory, conceptualization, and design of data center cooling systems, district heating and cooling, thermal energy storage, and geothermal resources, working closely with our mechanical, energy, and geothermal engineering teams in North America. Specific tasks may include digital twin development of thermal energy assets and cooling systems in AI data center, piping and equipment sizing and selection, flow modeling, energy analysis, and life cycle cost evaluations, among other design engineering activities. You’ll be expected to possess a strong grasp of engineering fundamentals, an understanding of mechanical engineering, excellent communication skills, and exceptional problem-solving skills with the confidence to explore innovative solutions.
This position performs thermodynamic, technology, market, and economic analysis, with an emphasis on data center cooling and power generation systems infrastructure. Work may also include industrial process applications, water conservation goals, scope 1 and scope 2 emissions analysis, among others. The successful candidate will perform engineering/economic design of thermal energy networks and low- or no-emissions energy systems in cooperation with mechanical, thermal, chemical, control systems, electrical, geothermal scientific, and HVAC engineers.
You will collaborate with our technical leadership, operations, client account managers and sales professionals on pursuits of strategic importance to the firm, and in the internal promotion of advanced transient simulation methods and tools as possible solutions for our existing multi-sector client base. You’ll be expected to demonstrate collaboration and high levels of communication and problem-solving skills.
The overall energy & power market, and the data center delivery market in particular, is experiencing an increase in activity with strong development growth. Jacobs has a long history of providing advisory and design services to clients and is looking to further strengthen our team in this space.
If you are passionate about developing reliable and sustainable energy projects, motivated by a challenge, and enjoy working with a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team to develop innovative solutions, Jacobs is the place for you. Come join our growing team to realize the future of energy!
