Pool: Certified Flight Instructor 1: Aviation
Position Summary
This is a pool posting with a rolling application period that will continue through November 15, 2025. Qualified applicants may be hired from this pool on an ongoing basis. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree. In addition, applicants must have FAA certifications and licenses showing experience and ratings as a Commercial Pilot, Instrument Pilot, and Certified Flight Instructor with a minimum of 250 flight hours, 100 hours PIC , and 25 hours of actual or simulated instrument time.
Department Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to provide intermittent flight instruction, on an as needed basis, to students enrolled in the University and to students in our Community Flight Program. Provides ground and flight instruction in accordance with Part 141 Syllabus and FARs; Reviews, studies, applies FAR revisions, additions, and changes; Verifies completeness and accuracy of student log books and training needs; Ensures students are prepared and scheduled for stage checks; Ensures student compliance with all policies and procedures of the Aviation Department and the FAA to include ground and flight safety
Representative Duties:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Monitors and maintains airplane safety, conducts airplane maintenance, and pilots aircraft under the Aviation Flight, Aviation Management, and Aviation Technology programs in the research mission of the Avionics Engineering Center.
Performs professional-level work that involves basic, operational problem-solving. Independently resolves day-to-day issues and executes clearly defined tasks. Provides data analysis and informational insights to support decision-making.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None; may assist with training student employees.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
No budgetary responsibility. May be responsible for validating transactions.
Problem Solving:
Solves routine problems with defined processes and guidance.
Independence of Action:
Works under close supervision.
Communication and Collaboration:
Collaborates with peers and follows guidance from supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
