    Job Summary

    The Sr. Manager- Safety Systems Mgt will assist the VP- Safety in leading the implementation and enhancement of our Safety Management System while driving cultural transformation through collaborative engagement and continuous improvement. This role is critical in establishing safety as our foundational value through systematic approaches, employee involvement, and data-driven decision making. This role will execute change management strategies to shift organizational mindset from compliance-based to value-based safety practices.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Lead the implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive Safety Management System components including safety initiatives, programs, risk assessment protocols, and control measures.

    + Monitor key safety performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure SMS effectiveness.

    + Create and implement audit programs to evaluate SMS effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

     

    + Champion a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, engagement, and initiative development

    + Develop and execute change management strategies to shift organizational mindset from compliance-based to value-based safety practices

    + Build trust and psychological safety to encourage reporting, transparency, and open dialogue about safety concerns

    + Partner with senior leadership to integrate safety into business decision-making processes

    + Facilitate behavior-based safety initiatives that reinforce positive safety practices

    + Work cross-functionally with operations, HR, engineering, and other departments to embed safety into all business processes

    + Lead safety working groups, fostering inclusive participation across all organizational levels

    + Build strong relationships with frontline employees, supervisors, and management to understand safety challenges and co-create solutions

    + Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to managers and supervisors on safety leadership

    + Implement continuous improvement methodologies to drive ongoing safety enhancements

    + Facilitate safety improvement teams and problem-solving workshops focused on eliminating hazards and reducing risk

    + Analyze trends in safety data to identify opportunities for proactive intervention and system improvements

    + Benchmark against industry best practices and integrate leading-edge safety innovations

    + Develop and track action plans to close gaps identified through audits, assessments, and employee feedback

    + Design and deliver engaging safety training programs that build competency and reinforce desired behaviors

    + Develop safety leadership capabilities among supervisors and managers

    + Create communication strategies that effectively reach diverse audiences and reinforce safety messages

    + Mentor and develop safety team members to build organizational capability

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + A degree in safety or related discipline; or a minimum of 8 years of experiencewithin the propane or oil and gas industry

    + 8 + years leading Safety Programs

    + ASP, CSP, GSP (preferred but not required)
