Position Description
The Metro Public Health Department of Nashville and Davidson County (MPHD) is seeking an experienced finance professional to fill a Finance Officer Senior vacancy. This position will perform the more complex professional and analytical work involved in the field of finance and administration, specifically with regard to MPHD’s administration of grants and contracts.
Typical Duties
+ Administers state and federal grant contracts
+ Serves as the primary liaison with Metro Finance, Metro Legal, Grantors, and other external partners for grants, contracts, and related matters
+ Leads the process for issuance of grants from the Department
+ Ensures compliance with Metro policies, state/federal regulations, and government accounting standards
+ Prepare regular financial reports and forecasts
+ Work with MPHD programmatic staff to develop grant and contract budgets
+ Review and approve invoices submitted for payment
+ Provide training to internal and external stakeholders
+ Serve as MPHD’s liaison with managed care organizations and lead contracting processes
+ Assists with tasks related to audits
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration or closely related field required

Supervision Exercised/Supervision Received:
May supervise other professional employees as well as clerical personnel.
Receives general supervision and reports to a designated supervisor, who makes staff assignments and provides assistance with complex or difficult problems.
Working Environment/Physical Demands:
Work involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, etc. Work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
Employee works primarily in an office setting under generally favorable working conditions. Work is sedentary; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Full-time, Civil Service positions -
