Join our team as a Staff Accountant, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of accounts payable and support various financial operations. Responsibilities
+ Process accounts payable accurately and timely, including resolving any issues and handling related adjustments, voids, and credit memos.
+ Compile and reconcile corporate credit card transactions and post monthly prepaid postage entries.
+ Prepare and compile monthly financial reports, supporting the closing checklist.
+ Serve as a backup for processing purchase orders, payments, and tracking financial data.
+ Handle Philanthropy Fund payments, donor designations, and CI payments, as well as track related contracts and respond to audit confirmations.
+ Prepare year-end 1099 forms and maintain quality vendor information, including ACH details.
+ Coordinate and resolve outstanding checks regularly and process the State of Connecticut unclaimed cash filing annually.
+ File and maintain all contracts and agreements electronically using DocuSign for tracking payment vouchers and approval signatures.
+ Process expense reimbursements for consultants and volunteers, manage manual payments when needed.
+ Manage accounting related to Workforce Solutions and Strategic Alliance portfolios, ensuring effective communication of grant terms and compliance.
+ Monitor expenditures for allowability, participate in grant kickoff meetings, and monitor grant budgets and variances.
+ Prepare and submit detailed financial reports with supporting documents according to grant award terms.
+ Work with the finance team to reflect grant restrictions and invoices accurately in the general ledger.
+ Maintain records and a master list/calendar of grant details in SharePoint, ensuring record retention per policy.
+ Prepare monthly credit card reconciliation and assist with departmental BVAs and year-end audits.
+ Support collaborative initiatives as necessary.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in accounting, reconciliation, general ledger, and accounts payable.
+ Experience in grants management, with 1-3 years preferred.
+ Ability to reconcile credit cards, perform month-end processes, journal entries, and financial statements.
+ Strong skills in bank reconciliation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business preferred.
+ Minimum of two to five years of related business experience.
+ Ability to calculate and analyze figures such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
+ Capability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
+ High degree of ethics and confidentiality.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to interact well with diverse groups.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position with the expectation of working three days in the office and two days remotely. The organization offers a collaborative and supportive work environment, providing opportunities for professional growth within the non-profit sector.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartford, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $36.06/hr.
