    About this role:

    Wells Fargo is seeking a Credit Risk & Approval Director to provide credit support and serve as a Senior Credit Officer for the Healthcare Portfolio under Corporate and Investment Banking Risk.

     

    As a part of Wells Fargo's second line of defense and Independent Risk Management team, covers jobs that monitor and manage the credit exposure within Corporate & Investment Banking portfolios and transactions, approve loans in excess of line authority levels, continually review counterparty credit-worthiness, and develop credit exposure methodologies in conjunction with risk analytic systems and that are aligned with Board-approved risk appetite.

     

    This role will be responsible for credit approval, credit management and oversight of components of the Healthcare portfolio. A successful candidate will provide leadership to a portfolio managers, coverage bankers and analysts within the business unit and will assist in the successful pursuit of the business strategy while maintaining appropriate credit quality in the portfolio. This role will report to the Group Senior Credit Officer of Banking.

    In this role, you will:

    + Review, analyze, provide credible challenge, and approve or decline new requests, modifications, amendments etc.

    + Review, analyze, and provide credible challenge to front line portfolio monitoring and surveillance activities. Responsible for oversight of the Healthcare portfolio.

    + Monitor asset and portfolio level metrics, financial, market and economic data to assess the impacts to credit fundamentals on lending positions in the Healthcare portfolio.

    + Identify emerging credit trends that could potentially impact the Healthcare portfolio.

    + Escalate emerging credit issues and concerns to Business and Credit Risk senior leadership.

    + Provide insight and direction on Healthcare Coverage Teams and Portfolio Management Professionals with a focus on delivering credit solutions for clients.

    + Manage and develop specialized teams of managers and professional individual contributors with focus on delivering moderate to high complexity and risk products.

    + Provide service for cross-functional stakeholders and internal partners associated with formulating and establishing group credit and lending policies.

    + Identify opportunities and strategies for developing approval procedures on prospective customers and directing guidelines on credit limits.

    + Lead Credit Risk team by making strategic decisions to resolve highly complex issues to meet higher risk deliverables.

    + Interpret and develop range of lending policies, procedures and standards for functions with moderate to higher complexity and risk.

    + Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers.

    + Lead team to achieve goals.

    + Interact with internal and external customers.

    + Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Credit Risk.

    + Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy.

    Required Qualifications:

    + 8+ years of Credit Risk or lending experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

    + 4+ years of management or leadership experience

    Desired Qualifications:

    + Experience in Banking Risk—whether in a front-line or second-line role—within the healthcare sector is preferred
