GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Certified Medical Assistant works under the direct supervision of the physician, mid-level licensed provider, and in cooperation with other office staff in assisting with safe and effective patient care in compliance with established standards and protocols of Redmond Physicians Group, Remond Hospital, and Adventist Health Systems goals and objectives.
Responsible for routine back-office functions including the maintenance of patient flow, exam room preparation and turnover, bringing patients back to exam room, taking and recording basic medical history, and assisting the physicians and/or nurse as needed.
Responsible for retrieving, routing, and assisting with provider/nurse messages in regard to patient telephone calls, messages, and call backs; appointment scheduling; and prescription refills as directed by the physician and/or provider.

Additional responsibilities include clinical compliance in sterilization techniques, sample medication oversight and compliance, OSHA requirements, and any other compliance standards required within the clinical realm of the practice.
PRINCIPAL** **DUTIES** **AND** **JOB** **RESPONSIBILITIES** **:
Front Office/Non-Clinical Duties:
Reviews appointment bookings in advance and ensure patients receive appointment reminders.
Verify and validate insurance prior to appointment date.
Completes check in process, securing copays and balance amounts.
Verifies consent forms are completed and up to date.
Maintains timely flow of patients and keep patients up to date of any delays.
Responds to and returns in-coming telephone calls in a timely manner.
Check out patient from visit and schedule the next visit
Clinical Duties:
Completes chart abstraction/prep chart activities prior to patient visit.
Rooms patient and completes screenings, history taking, vitals signs, medication reconciliation, and other relevant intake needs.
Prepares the patient and room for physical assessment or procedure.
Educate patients regarding tests, medications, diet information
Completes Point of Care Tests and phlebotomy as ordered
Informs physician of any critical results or abnormal results
Assists with procedures such as ECG, vaccines, injectables, wound care, vision and hearing tests, suture removal, urine catheterization.
Assists with inbaskets throughout the day
Proficient in sterile technique
Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with AHMG policies and medical standards.
Ensures medical equipment is functioning and up to date
Ensures adequate supplies and medications are not expired
Responsible for preparation of exam rooms including restocking of treatment areas and disinfecting of exam tables and counters.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE** **AND** **EXPERIENCE** **REQUIRED** **:

Able to communicate in writing and verbally clearly and effectively with patients and co-workers.
Demonstrates ability to utilize numerous technology software, such as the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Updates clinical and medical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities for professional growth.
Proactively suggests quality improvement ideas and patient safety ideas
Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent
BLS Certification (condition of employment)
