Job Summary
THIS IS AN APPRENTICE POSTIION – LEVEL I- III
Install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems for the university’s facilities. Install electrical systems according to blueprints in facilities under construction. Ensure proper wiring in construction or repairs and ensure electrical systems are in compliance with local or national regulatory requirements. Perform tests and locate potential electrical hazards for repair. Perform routine tasks as directed and under close supervision.

Electrician, I

Perform tests and locate potential electrical hazards for repair. Performs routine tasks as directed and under close supervision.
Requires little to no related experience.
This is an Entry-Level position in the Support track.

Minimum Qualifications
**EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT :** 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
**Electrician, I:** Requires little to no related experience.
**Electrician, II:** Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
**Electrician, III :** Requires 3+ years of related experience.
Preferences
Licensed or have ability to license as an apprentice electrician in the State of Utah and demonstrated human relation and effective communications skills or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Continued compliance with the qualified apprentice program is required. This will include classroom participation, and on the job training as required by the program. Dependent upon department of assignment, a valid Utah driver’s license may be required. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
