    Job Summary

    THIS IS A 3-YEAR FULL-TIME (100% EFFORT) APPOINTMENT THORUGH THE END OF 2028

    The School of Social Work at the University of Michigan seeks a full-time Research Coordinator for an NIH-funded R01 project (empower-at-home.com). Funding for this position is available through May 2029. This project focuses on implementing and evaluating an online psychotherapy program for older adults in community settings. The Research Coordinator will work closely with the principal investigator, research team members, and community agency partners to ensure the smooth operation and success of the project. Responsibilities will include planning and overseeing research activities, coordinating study visits and data collection, managing data, conducting clinical assessments, managing human subjects, training research staff, and preparing reports for sponsors.

     

    Candidates must be currently eligible to work in the United States, as we are currently unable to sponsor visas for this job opening.

    Responsibilities*

    + Manage human subjects, including tracking enrollment and maintaining accurate records.

    + Assess and manage suicidal risk according to the study protocol (including safety planning and coordination with crisis resources as needed).

    + Conduct screening, assessment, and consent procedures as needed.

    + Supervise research team members, such as research assistants.

    + Coordinate and attend site visits, which may require driving (mileage will be reimbursed). This is infrequent.

    + Coordinate with project team members and community partners to align project goals and activities.

    + Ensure compliance with research protocols, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.

    + Prepare and submit required reports to sponsors and stakeholders.

    + Train and support research staff in conducting study-related tasks.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or a closely related behavioral health field (e.g., counseling, clinical psychology).

    + Minimum 4 years of related experience.

    + Demonstrated experience assessing and managing suicidal ideation, including conducting suicide risk assessments and implementing safety plans.

    + Experience providing clinical mental health assessments.

    + Strong organizational and project management skills.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    + Proficiency in basic data management (e.g., maintaining logs, spreadsheets, or databases).

    + Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    + Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

    + Ability to commute to different location and access to reliable transportation.

    + Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project needs.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Michigan (clinical license), or eligibility for LMSW.

    + Prior experience in clinical research coordination or research administration.

    + Experience supervising or mentoring research staff or students.

    + Experience working with older adult populations.

    + Knowledge of regulatory requirements for NIH-funded research.

    + Experience with community-based research and partnerships.

    + Proficiency in REDCap or other electronic data capture systems.

    Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.     Additional Information

    + Work Hours: Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, with flexibility of start or end time within this time frame. You are expected to work 8 hours a day, with a 30 or 60-minute unpaid lunch break.     + Location: You will have an office at the School of Social Work building. Hybrid work is permitted with supervisor approval (3 days in-person and 2 days remote), but fully remote work is not allowed for this position.
