Description:
Under the direction of a qualified pathologist, the Pathologist Assistant provides professional services in anatomic pathology, including surgical pathology and specialized procedures. This position assists or performs specialized duties as designated by the supervising pathologist or laboratory director.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in health science or a related field required or Associate degree in chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution education/training equivalent to this that includes:
- 60 semester hours (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- 24 semester hours in medical laboratory technology or science courses (minimum six in chemistry, six in biology, and 12 in any combination of chemistry, biology, or medical lab technology).
- Laboratory training via an accredited program (ABHES, NAACLS, or HHS-approved) or at least three months of recorded training in each specialty performed.
2. Master’s degree in health science or a related field preferred.
3. One year of Pathologist Assistant training in an accredited program preferred.
4. Experience as a Pathologist Assistant required.
5. Experience using laboratory computer systems with anatomic pathology or histology/cytology modules preferred.
6. Membership in the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants preferred
Pay Range $53.00 - $74.21
