Job Title: Electrical Safety SpecialistJob Description
As an Electrical Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety policies across solar construction and operational sites. You will develop and implement the site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP) and conduct routine safety audits, risk assessments, and SWPPP inspections. Your role will include safety training and orientations for employees and site personnel, maintaining safety records, and promoting a proactive safety culture.
Responsibilities
+ Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety policies.
+ Develop and supervise the site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP).
+ Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and SWPPP inspections.
+ Provide safety training and orientations for employees and site personnel.
+ Maintain safety records and track EHS performance metrics.
+ Promote a proactive safety culture and build strong partnerships with project teams.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Subject matter expert knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147, and NFPA 855 standards.
+ Proficiency in developing LOTO procedures and conducting regular audits.
+ Experience in performing arc flash analyses and incident investigations.
+ Ability to develop arc-rated PPE standards and provide technical support.
+ Experience in developing and delivering electrical safety training.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
+ OSHA 30-hour Construction certification.
+ 2-3 years of direct experience in environmental health and safety.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in renewable energy, construction, or related industries.
+ Strong understanding of OSHA General Industry and Construction standards.
+ Experience in leading safety on construction sites and managing high-risk activities.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Experience in solar construction or electrical safety.
+ Safety certifications (e.g., ASP, CSP) are highly desirable.
+ Ability to travel to multiple project sites as needed.
Work Environment
The role requires the ability to walk and navigate undeveloped construction sites, occasionally exposed to outdoor conditions such as extreme heat, cold, and precipitation. The position involves standing, walking, and performing site inspections for several hours at a time, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds for safety-related tasks. Domestic travel to solar sites with occasional overnight stays is required, primarily within the greater New England area.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
