We are seeking a dedicated Industrial Engineer to lead the development and implementation of efficient manufacturing processes. This role involves managing the setup of production lines, supporting new product introductions, and providing technical and tooling support. The ideal candidate will actively engage with shop-floor activities and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
+ Lead the physical and process setup of the compression bag production line, including takt definition, work-in-progress placement, flow design, operator balance, and standard work.
+ Support in developing lean, flow-based cells across operations, including layout, fixtures, work sequencing, and visual factory tools.
+ Design and implement a small-batch, mixed-model shell cell, including material flow, tooling, standard work, and throughput models.
+ Conduct time studies, labor balancing, and ergonomic improvements to ensure smooth, predictable output.
+ Drive continuous improvement through events, 5S, waste elimination, and standardized work audits.
+ Assist with new product onboarding, including BOM validation, routing creation, tool requirements, prototype builds, and first-article support.
+ Interface directly with customer engineering teams for clarifications, tool requirements, or build feasibility discussions.
+ Translate customer drawings and requirements into actionable shop-floor documentation.
+ Develop and implement fixtures, templates, guides, and other lean tooling for consistent production.
+ Use basic CAD tools to create layouts, fixtures, patterns, or tooling documentation.
+ Work closely with engineering and frame shop teams to align cell setups with product requirements.
+ Support operators and supervisors daily, working directly in the cell, observing flow, gathering operator feedback, and troubleshooting constraints.
+ Actively participate in hands-on cell builds, equipment setups, and trial runs.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in lean manufacturing and process improvement.
+ New equipment installation and product launch experience.
+ Ability to read and utilize basic CAD tools.
+ Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, or equivalent hands-on experience.
+ 2–7 years of manufacturing or industrial engineering experience.
+ Strong communication skills to interface with operators, supervisors, engineers, and customer representatives.
+ Willingness to participate in hands-on cell creation.
+ Strong problem-solving and process-mapping ability.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with cut-and-sew, textile manufacturing, or flexible materials.
+ Exposure to build-to-print environments.
+ Prior responsibility for lean transformations or new line launches.
+ Familiarity with ERP systems such as Epicor.
Work Environment
This position is based in an on-site manufacturing environment, with approximately 40% of time spent on the shop floor and 60% dedicated to office and project management tasks. The role requires active engagement in both hands-on and strategic aspects of production.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pioneer, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $50.48/hr.
