Job Title: PhlebotomistJob Description

We are seeking a skilled phlebotomist who excels in blood collection using venipuncture and capillary techniques across all age groups, with a particular focus on pediatric patients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety standards and effectively communicate these principles to colleagues. Additionally, the role involves providing orientation and training for patient service technicians while working under the supervision of the lab supervisor and team lead.

Responsibilities

+ Perform blood collection procedures using venipuncture and capillary techniques.

+ Handle pediatric blood collections and difficult draws in medical office buildings.

+ Communicate the importance of compliance and safety to other employees.

+ Provide orientation and training for patient service technicians.

+ Work with pediatric patients under supervision.

+ Manage a high volume of blood draws in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in phlebotomy and venipuncture techniques.

+ Experience with neonatal and pediatric blood draws.

+ Excellent customer service skills.

+ Computer proficiency, including experience with lab systems such as Cerner.

+ CPT 1 License.

+ High school diploma.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ At least six months of experience in an acute or sub-acute setting, with one year preferred.

+ Experience in outpatient settings such as LabCorp or Quest, handling 45-55 patients within an 8-hour shift.

+ Experience in inpatient settings, drawing 20-30 patients within an 8-hour shift.

+ Excellent attendance and behavior record.

+ Flexibility in shifts and hours.

+ Ability to travel to various Medical Office Building labs throughout South Orange County.

Work Environment

This position involves working in high-volume environments within Medical Office Buildings and eventually transitioning to a main lab in a hospital setting. The role requires flexibility in working hours, with availability between 6am to 11pm every day of the week. The work environment emphasizes patient care and offers the opportunity to be part of one of the most well-renowned healthcare systems in California.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
