Job Description
Strategic Sourcing Officer – Capital & Facilities
The **Strategic Sourcing Officer** is responsible for establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with internal customers, outside suppliers and other business partners. This position maintains open communication and collaboration between Procurement Services and Facilities Management and Capital Projects to ensure continued strategic sourcing effectiveness to deliver projects, manage costs, and mitigate project risk by overseeing and advocating industry best practices. The Strategic Sourcing Officer analyzes facilities related commodity spend across the enterprise, works with customers to identify and document needs, leads commodity strategy development efforts, qualifies and selects strategic sourcing partners from outside industry, and oversees all project related and contract documentation, maintains supplier base in the University e-procurement marketplace. Primary focus will be managing the facilities related commodity and services provider category, with oversight of core University physical plant related expenditures and the applicable sourcing and contract requirements.
The position is also responsible for coordinating with the Higher Education Consortium's multiple specialty commodity systems and identifying leveraged spend opportunities that will benefit the University. The Strategic Sourcing Officer interfaces with senior strategic sourcing leadership and decision makers across the University and works collaboratively to develop and complete strategic sourcing initiatives; to document sourcing processes, to manage spend and influence procurement activities for facilities related specialized commodities; and to act in a consultative role with departments throughout the University by determining how the Procurement organization can assist each department in achieving their goals.
Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and full-time equivalent hiring ranges:
- Strategic Sourcing Officer: $79,900 - $99,900; 5+ years related professional experience
- Strategic Sourcing Officer: $72,450 - $90,550; 3-5 years related professional experience
- Strategic Sourcing Officer: $65,550 - $81,950; 1-3 years professional experience
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree and certification by a recognized professional purchasing organization is preferred - including Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO), Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), Certified Associate in Contract Management (CACM), Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM), or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP), strongly desired.
+ Additionally, well-developed negotiation skills are required along with a solid command of procurement principles and specialty sourcing strategies and trends.
