    Mechanical Estimator

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator who will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems in construction and industrial projects. You will analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine material, labor, and time requirements, ensuring that projects are financially viable and completed within budget.

    Responsibilities

    + Assist in estimating HVAC and plumbing projects under the guidance of experienced estimators.

    + Analyze blueprints, plans, and specifications.

    + Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, and equipment.

    + Conduct quantity takeoffs and source materials and subcontractors.

    + Interpret project documents and collaborate with vendors and project teams.

    + Conduct site visits to assess conditions and logistical challenges.

    + Identify cost factors, including materials, labor, equipment, and explore cost-saving options through alternative methods or value engineering.

    + Maintain and update cost databases.

    + Support contract negotiations with subcontractors and vendors.

    + Use estimating software to quantify project requirements.

    + Review project specifications and addendums.

    + Participate in site surveys for renovation or retrofit projects.

    + Assist in reviewing construction schedules.

    + Participate in submittal reviews and assembly.

    + Help prepare as-built drawings and close-out documentation.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

    + Strong organizational and documentation skills.

    + Minimum of four years of college in an engineering-related field.

    + Minimum of four years of on-the-job training in mechanical estimating.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Mechanical, construction, piping, estimation.

    + Mechanically inclined with mechanical aptitude.

    + Experience with blueprint interpretation and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems.

    + Knowledge in civil construction, hand tools, construction management, field construction, HVAC, industrial, and pipe installation.

    Work Environment

    The role requires a willingness to work a minimum of 10 hours a day, five to six days a week. The position involves both office and site-based work, using various estimating software and tools to complete project requirements efficiently.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $47.50/hr.
