Manufacturing / Automation Engineer- Knollwood, IL

We are seeking a dedicated Manufacturing / Automation Engineer to enhance our manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will have a strong background in automation and will work to identify and improve problematic areas within our manufacturing equipment and processes. This role requires a proactive approach, directly impacting machine downtime and overall facility efficiency.

Responsibilities

+ Identify and address problematic areas in manufacturing equipment and processes.

+ Design and implement improvements to enhance machine efficiency and reduce downtime.

+ Collaborate closely with machine technicians and production staff.

+ Design machine assemblies using Solidworks.

+ Troubleshoot mechanical motion and automation equipment hands-on.

+ Understand electrical schematics and machine wiring.

Essential Skills

+ 10+ years of experience in machine troubleshooting, building, and maintenance.

+ Experience with small automation equipment and injection molding processes.

+ Proficiency in 3-D CAD, preferably Solidworks.

+ Strong mechanical skills and ability to use shop tools and equipment.

+ Competence in using measuring equipment like micrometers and calipers.

+ Basic machining skills using lathes and mills.

+ Ability to write technical documents and standardized work experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and controls programming.

+ Basic computer skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.

+ Ability to write code for PLCs is a plus.

+ Effective communication with production staff and external vendors.

+ Knowledge of plant infrastructure systems.

+ Background in quality control procedures and processes.

+ Six Sigma training, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and total productive maintenance experience are strong advantages.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Knollwood, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
