Description
The SIOP Planner for the Power & Energy (P&E) Division plays a critical role in ensuring the availability of parts for Caterpillar power generation systems, including gensets used in data centers, municipalities, federal facilities, and oil & gas operations. This position leverages the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process to forecast demand, optimize inventory, and support uninterrupted service for mission-critical applications.
Inventory Management Planning
+ Propose and assist in comprehensive inventory strategies with the Parts Procurement team that align with sales/maintenance forecasts and customer demand or strategic initiatives.
+ Coordinate and schedule parts orders that relate to specific planned PCR/sales opportunities to ensure timely availability for machine repairs and customer service needs. (OTIF)
+ Build and maintain accurate parts lists for engine rebuilds, specific sale opportunities for parts, and general maintenance items for quick review and accurate planning.
+ Develop and maintain rolling 12–18-month forecasts for P&E parts demand using SIOP methodology.
+ Analyze historical usage, service contracts, and project pipelines to anticipate future needs.
+ Partner with P&E sales, service, and project teams to align inventory plans with customer commitments by initiating and running SIOP meetings.
+ Communicate forecast changes and inventory strategies to stakeholders across the dealership.
+ Maintain an accurate record of pre-planned WIP and ready at all times to summarize total investment per job, anticipated invoice, and forecast misses when applicable.
+ Summarize anticipated spend by week, month, and quarter.
+ Work with operational teams to ensure Pre-kitting process and delivery is accomplished.
+ Understand A/B/C/D inventory in order to chase waste with excess/obsolete inventory by promoting bargain lists and strategic sell off initiatives to achieve optimal DSI.
Supply Chain Optimization
+ Understands Caterpillar Global Supply Chain Operational Processes as it relates to the procurement and order fill of Wheeler Machinery and it’s customers.
+ Identify opportunities for improving supply chain processes, including prioritizing parts orders and optimizing lead times.
+ Collaborate with suppliers to explore and implement cost-saving initiatives, such as freight optimization and emergency fee reductions by leveraging Caterpillar logistic network.
+ Consistent analysis of the supply chain, as it relates to power generation and oil and gas production machines.
+ Takes the 5 why’s approach to inventory management and missed opportunities in the supply chain to continuously improvement value add to end customers.
Forecast Management and Communication
+ Monitor back orders for planned maintenance opportunities and develop effective solutions to minimize delays, keeping stakeholders informed through regular status updates.
+ Foster strong relationships with vendors, ensuring alignment of inventory needs and resolving any supply chain issues promptly.
+ Understand and leverages Caterpillar forecasting tools such as PLESN/PRISM.
+ Expected to compile a Monthly forecast review for Supply Chain Management for fiscal planning activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
+ Work closely with sales, marketing, and operational teams to ensure alignment on inventory strategies and customer service objectives.

Qualifications
Education
+ Relevant education in supply chain planning/forecasting, customer service, inventory management, business management
Specialized Knowledge
+ In-depth understanding of Caterpillar power generation, supply chain management principles, inventory planning, and demand forecasting techniques.
Skills

+ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly.
+ Intermediate – Advanced Microsoft Excel and experience with inventory management software or ERP systems.
+ Strong knowledge of SIOP processes, inventory planning, and demand forecasting.
+ Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills in order to compile availability reports.
+ Familiarity with power generation systems and genset components is highly desirable.
