Smithbucklin , a 650-person, employee-owned professional services company with more than 70 years of success serving the association market, with primary offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C., is looking for a Senior Operations Manager to join our Association Management Unit in our Chicago office. The Senior Operations Manager plays a significant role in the management of our client associations' programs and supports the association Executive Director in all areas of association management.
What You Will Do:
Oversee all client operations, including:
+ Assisting with the annual budget, quarterly financial reports and periodic forecasts in collaboration with Executive Director and finance/accounting staff team
+ Drafting and maintaining critical governance documents
+ Ensuring operational coordination, efficiency and effectiveness across the client team
+ Organizing and facilitating in-person and virtual governance meetings for the client
+ Ensuring the timely preparation and dissemination of Board and governance meeting materials
+ Coordinating, drafting and disseminating governance and operational update communications, including reports related to membership, finances, the strategic plan and other ad hoc needs
+ Supervising and coaching the membership, operations and education staff teams, including but not limited to client relations
+ Overseeing customer/member care, in collaboration with membership, operations and education staff teams
+ Overseeing all expenses related to operations for the client to maximize efficiency and cost savings
+ Establishing and maintaining a positive and respected working relationship between client volunteer leaders and the client staff team
+ Managing ad hoc projects related to membership, operations and/or finance/accounting
+ Managing ad hoc committees related to emerging client objectives, as needed

Basic Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution or equivalent experience
+ 7-10 years of relevant professional experience, to include direct supervisory responsibilities
+ Experience with budgets, financial reports, AMS and CMS platforms
+ Demonstration of previous writing and editing experience
+ Proficiency with basic computer programming, including the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with volunteer management is highly preferred
+ Experience with healthcare or medical provider professional associations/societies
+ Experience working with teams or volunteers located around the world
+ Database experience and website skills are preferred

Our hybrid environment offers you the option of working from home two days per week. Employees will work a standard 40-hour week, with the possibility of additional hours based on project deadlines. Smithbucklin considers several factors when determining compensation, including a candidate's recent coursework, training, experience, and certifications, among other considerations. The expected pay for this role is $100,000 - $115,000
