    The Graduate Medical Education has an outstanding opportunity for an APM Residency Program Operations Specialist (Temporary) to join their team.

     

    The purpose of this position is to provide Graduate Medical Education programmatic operational support to the ACGME accredited residency program in the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine. This individual will report to the Residency Education Administrator with a strong matrixed relationship to the APM Residency Program Director. The individual in this position must possess a strong systems orientation, knowledge of and demonstrated experience with process improvement techniques, and above-average expertise with technical/IT systems. They will function as the in-department expert on GME systems and will act as liaison to the GME office on technical issues.

    The specific responsibilities of this program fall into several categories:

    + Residents’ Didactic Education Development, Oversight & Implementation. Working in conjunction with the Program Director, Associate Program Directors, and Education Program Administrator, develop, create, and implement Didactic, simulation scenarios and other trainings to ensure all ACGME and ABA content areas are satisfied.

    + Oversight and management of Departmental ACGME technical systems, e.g., MedHub, Spin Fusion and other internal tracking systems as well as external presence on the web.

    + Management of other ACGME-required program reporting and activities including assisting the CCC chair, providing MedHub reports on resident and Program performance to the Program Director, Program Administrator, Site Directors as appropriate. Administering and maintaining the evaluation systems for Program/faculty/residents.

    Position Complexities

    The complexities of managing a compliant residency program are significant. This individual must have technical and personal skills to manage of myriad systems, processes and data that impact upon a smoothly running and compliant residency program. Management and oversight of the extensive technical structure require someone who is able to work independently and handle situations and problems resourcefully with only minimal oversight. This individual will have primary responsible for oversight and management of the residency training program’s extensive technical structure and the interfaces that ensure the program is in compliance with the residency training program’s complex rules and requirements.

    This position supports APM education activities within the Department and is critical to successful program accreditation, as well as the satisfaction and success of our trainees, whether students, residents or fellows.

Likewise, the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine is ranked among the leading academic departments in the country. The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine was founded in 1960 by Dr. John Bonica, a world leader in regional anesthesia and pain management.

     

    The Department takes pride in the depth and breadth of the training offered. When a physician completes our program, they are equipped to care for any critically ill patient or clinical situation in the perioperative period.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    Residency Curriculum Development:

    + Working in conjunction with the Program Director, Associate Program Directors, and Education Program Administrator, develop, create, and implement Didactic, simulation scenarios and other trainings to ensure all ACGME and ABA content areas are satisfied.

    + Working across all services and sites (UWMC, HMC, VA, SCH, VMMC, SW, EG, Global Health), and in conjunction with site directors, set up a quality, organized, didactics program.

    + Develop, train, and implement system for tracking residency didactic attendance.

    + Collaborate with simulation center to ensure APM residents receive appropriate simulation training.

    + Engage with simulation faculty to generate and improve simulation modules that are in accordance with ACGME requirements and program goals.

    + Organize multi-course Resident lecture series, ensuring all aspects of the series schedule are managed.

    + Schedule and manage participation of all faculty and outside speakers for 100+ lectures annually.

    + Oversee and manage residents’ required teaching presentations and QI projects, providing direction to residents as needed and ensuring the presentations/QI projects meet ACGME requirements.)

    + Working across all services and sites (UWMC, HMC, VA, SCH, VMMC, SW, EG, Global Health), and in conjunction with site directors, operationally manage all weekly residency education didactic and simulation sessions.

    + Coordinate multi-course Resident lecture series, ensuring all aspects of the series schedule are managed.

    + Prepare and disseminate all materials for lectures.

    + Develop, oversee, and maintain access for faculty/residents across different educational platforms (including but not limited to MedHub, Anesthesia ToolBox, Canvas)

    + Develop and maintain educational platforms to support resident education in the didactic and simulation realm.

    + Work with site supports to organize residency presentations (Ground Rounds, orientations, etc.) to include as need AV support, room reservation, room setup, recordings of sessions, as well as organizing and archiving materials for the residents.

    + Create process for providing access to residents for additional educational development funds that is attendance based.

     

    Development, Oversight and management for Department ACGME Technical systems (e.g., MedHub, internal tracking systems, resident intranet as well as external presence on the web):

     

    + Ensure complex resident program review data and process is complete and on-schedule and that review reports are prepared for appropriate audiences.

    + Management of data and compiling reports on resident work hours.

    + Management of residency program evaluation system including administering evaluations of the residents, Program and faculty via MedHub and preparing regular performance reports for the Program Director, Department Chair, rotations directors and individual residents and faculty.

    + Ensures the on-line presence of the residency program is up-to-date and portrays the residency program well.

    + Ensure that educational milestones are appropriately mapped and incorporated into MedHub evaluations for analysis and reporting.

    + Maintenance of rotation schedules in MedHub.

    + Assist department staff and chief residents with maintenance of on-call schedules in SpinFusion.

    + Administer and track performance evaluations of residents as completed by the faculty in MedHub.

    Management of other ACGME-required program activities:

    + Become knowledgeable about residency training requirement educational requirements, both technical and didactic.

    + Oversee resident reporting compliance in the MedHub system.

    + Prepare regular performance reports for Program Director, Department Chair, Chair of the CCC, individual residents, individual faculty, and rotation directors.

    + Prepare regular reports for ACGME and internal oversight committees regarding program’s compliance with ACGME requirements.

    + Maintain systems to track resident absences including vacation, meetings, and other leave.

    + Provide ad-hoc reports as requested: i.e. low evaluations notifications to Faculty Affairs, yearly reports of faculty data for faculty reviews.

     

    Assist with other Program projects as needed.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    **Education:** BA in Education, Science, Psychology, Communications or similar

    **Type and Years of Experience** : 3 years’ experience in healthcare, preferably in educational setting.

    Desired Qualifications:

    + Master's in Healthcare, Education or similar

    + Familiarity with ACGME rules

    + Familiarity with MedHub and other technical systems

    + Experience working in an ACGME accredited residency program

     

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $69,720.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $82,200.00 annual
