    VME Quality Engineer

     

    This job is a U.S. based HYBRID position and requires a minimum of 4 days onsite at the Dearborn MI office.

    In this position...

     

    Seeking candidate to fulfill an opening as a Vehicle Operations Engineering (VME) Final Assembly Engineering (FAE) Manufacturing Quality Engineer. Selected candidate will be responsible for driving quality initiatives and strategies in our core manufacturing space to prevent recurrence on future programs.

     

    VME FAE is responsible for ensuring future programs are launched with zero defects and zero warranty at Job 1 and supporting current model quality as needed. The team is responsible for developing strategies to drive current model quality issues to zero for implementation in the near and far. Interfacing and supporting multiple

     

    teams such as quality, core engineering, and product development is required to help drive initiatives.

    What you'll do...

     

    + Engage SMEs and groups/engineers within different teams (FAE and otherwise) for assistance in driving quality and support ongoing workstreams

    + Support electrical quality workstreams with Electrical SME and plant PVT for current production implementation

    + Ability to use FMA tools (PFMEA/DFMEA/control plan) to resolve quality issues

    + Identify, develop, and deliver ICAs, PCAs, and PRAs for current model quality concerns and/or process/manufacturing related issues when needed

    + Ensure VME FAE standards reflect FAP02-007 traceability updates

    + Monitor manufacturing and quality procedures and standards for VME impact

    + Utilize warranty and internal data to support systemic quality workstreams

    + Lead report outs to management

    + Pivot to high priority quality projects

    + Present in cross functional forums to educate or ask for feedback on quality deliverables and initiatives

    + Develop standard single point lesson documentation to align team members

     

    You'll have...

     

    + Bachelor’s degree Preferred (Engineering Based Preferred)

    + Experience in Automotive Manufacturing Engineering

    + Experience w/automotive assembly tooling, processes, and facilities

    + Ability to pivot to high priority tasks and manage multiple workstreams

     

    Even better, you may have...

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Strong Project Management skills and result-oriented mindset

    + Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles

    + Six Sigma Green Belt

    + Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, etc.)

    + 3D CAD review abilities (Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent)

    + Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

    + Knowledge in the following Ford software systems: FEDE, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter

    + Experience in one or more of the following areas: Electrical Distribution Systems, Interior Ornamentation, Exterior Ornamentation, Glass Cells, Water Testing, Chassis, Powertrain, Tire and Wheel Assembly, Wheel Alignment, and/or Headlight AIM

    + Experience with Error proofing and/or vision equipment

    + Ability to resolve problems in a timely manner and escalate hard rocks

    + Ability to be self-motivated (minimal direct supervision)
