    Marine Electrician - San Diego, CA - Career Opportunity

    Job Description

    + We are seeking an experienced Marine Electrician to join our team. The successful candidate will possess and effectively use hand tools to perform a variety of electrical tasks, including the removal and installation of electrical system components according to technical drawings. You will work on overhead lights, receptacles, heaters, distribution panels, and more.

    Responsibilities

    + Utilize hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, and voltage testers for electrical tasks.

    + Remove, install, inspect, repair, replace, troubleshoot, and test electrical equipment with minimal supervision.

    + Take and read measurements using tools like a 500-volt megger, clamp-on amp meter, volt meter, and tachometers.

    + Prepare, tie-in, and connect cables to switchboards and load centers.

    + Install and wire switch boxes and other components on Navy ships, adhering to NAVSEA standards.

    + Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

    Essential Skills

    + Marine Electrician expertise.

    + Experience with control panels, switch boxes, and cable running.

    + Ability to work on shipyard structures like bulkheads and ceiling panels.

    + Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems.

    + Familiarity with NAVY standards and ship installations.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + At least 3+ years of marine electrical experience required.

    + Experience working on CVN Class Navy ships preferred.

    + Familiarity with installing cables and hooking up control panels on Navy ships.

    Work Environment

    + Work will be conducted at various shipyard facilities in San Diego, CA, including Nassco, BAE, CMSD, North Island, and the Naval Base on 32nd street. The position may require starting as early as 5 am and working shifts up to 10 hours long.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
