    This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to the Parnall Office located in Jackson, MI preferred but also open to Saginaw Service Center located in Saginaw, MI, Karn Plant located in Essexville, MI, Bay City Service Center located in Bay City, MI, Grand Rapids Service Center located in Grand Rapids, MI or JH Campbell Training Center located in West Olive, MI.  The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

     

    This is to fill two (2) openings.

     

    General Summary of Job Responsibilities

     

    The Principal Program Engineer - Natural Gas Generation is responsible for the engineering and technical disciplines needed to complete a project. The incumbent oversees multiple initiatives and works to plan projects, establish project criteria, coordinate project reviews, and ensure the proper implementation of project elements. The Principal Program Engineer - Natural Gas Generation will schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all the technical activities aimed at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. The Principal Program Engineer - Natural Gas Generation is responsible for the deliveries of the team and for overseeing the work of lower-level engineers and technicians. The Principal Program Engineer - Natural Gas Generation will be responsible for leading and supporting the engineering and development of the Natural Gas Generation development. This includes the development of new Combine and Simple Cycle Natural Gas Power Plant.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Oversee the development and review of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) engineering packages, evaluate Requests for Information (RFIs), and provide support for field inspections during the construction of Simple and Combined Cycle Power Plants.

    + Manage Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) studies to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and effectively.

    + Interact with clients, interpreting their needs and requirements, and representing them in the field.

    + Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.

    + Perform quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans, and personnel performance, and report on the project's status.

    + Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor the assigned engineering projects. Assign responsibilities and mentor the project team.

    + Provide assistance and technical support to project managers and other project participants and collaborate with senior engineers to create more efficient project methods and to maintain the project's profitability.

    + Review engineering tasks and deliverables and initiate appropriate and necessary corrective actions.

    + Support the Agile project delivery cadence by helping balance team performance with tight deadlines.

    + Develop specifications for the project's needed equipment.

    + Other duties as assigned or may be necessary including reviewing.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

     

    + Analytical and problem-solving skills.

    + Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD.

    + Proficient in MS Office, with aptitude for learning new software.

    + Written and verbal communication skills.

    + Organizational skills and attention to detail.

    + Strong understanding of GD&T principles.

    + Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards.

     

    Education and Experience

     

    + Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program with seven (7) or more years of experience as a Program Engineer working on advanced projects.

    + Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a non-ABET accredited program plus a Professional Engineering (PE) license with seven (7) or more years of experience as a Program Engineer working on advanced projects.

    Preferred Education

    + Bachelor's degree in civil or electrical engineering.

    + Previous experience with power generation.
