    Job Description

    The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of day-to-day production operations within assigned departments or value streams. This role ensures delivery of quality products on time and to specification, driving improvements in safety, efficiency, training, staffing, and cost management from order entry to shipping.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supervise and support Leads and Operators to meet daily production goals.

    • Approve timecards and vacation requests for department staff.

    • Assist in Value Stream Mapping and support implementation of future state improvements.

    • Drive cost-saving initiatives through process improvement and efficiency gains.

    • Support training programs and personnel changes in partnership with HR and Training teams.

    • Ensure departmental compliance with OSHA and internal safety policies.

    • Manage consumable supply levels and provide weekly updates on material availability.

    • Collaborate with Supply Chain to manage and maintain accurate production schedules.

    • Support development, maintenance, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

    • Track and report on key metrics: WIP, On-Time Delivery (OTD), yields, waste, reprocessing, and scrap.

    • Assist in monthly and year-end inventory processes.

    • Develop 1–2 year staffing and training plans to meet future production needs.

    • Ensure on-time, in-specification product shipments to customers.

    • Actively participate in weekly SIOP meetings to support long-range planning (12–18 months).

    • Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate and improve planning, purchasing, and production alignment.

    • Lead or support cost improvement and yield enhancement projects.

    • Foster a culture of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma within the department.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    Minimum of 4 years in a manufacturing environment in an operations role

     

    Supervisory or team leadership experience

     

    Proven experience in driving process improvements

     

    Familiarity with production scheduling, inventory control, and supply chain coordination

     

    Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles

    Understanding of OSHA safety regulations and compliance requirements

    Proficiency with production metrics (e.g., OTD, yields, scrap, reprocessing, WIP)

     

    Familiarity with ERP or MRP systems for scheduling and materials planning

     

    Ability to read and interpret SOPs, work instructions, and technical documents Experience in a regulated manufacturing setting

     

    Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field
