Summary
Responsible for daily management of all Milwaukee and Remote Field Machining Technicians emphasizing safety and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Requirements
Daily Core Tasks:
• Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments to ensure the following:
a. Jobs are completed on-time
b. Quality specifications are met
c. Costs are controlled and within budget, including but not limited to the following:
1. Expense Items
2. Direct Labor
• Collaborate with Mobilization Manager to schedule technicians for Mobilization
• Collaborate with Scheduling to assign technicians for field and shop projects
• Project Management of shop jobs utilizing portable equipment
• Ensure employees are updating Jobs using the TEAM app.
• Audit and approve employee expenses
• Daily audits and management employee time sheets
• Ensure proper checklists are being used and updated.
• As required, review and compare actual vs estimated costs.
• As required, create, and implement process improvement plans where deficiencies are identified
• As required, submit RFQs to Purchasing.
• As required, act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
General Management Tasks:
• As required, participate with personnel reviews, assessments, interviews and terminations.
• Approve vacation schedules.
• Ensure the training of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the company’s standards for quality, productivity, and safety.
• Work with the training department to train and qualify technical skills of assigned employees
• Ensure the completion of all required production paperwork, records, and documentation.
• Actively participate in establishing and driving 5s culture and standards.
• Ensure compliance with departmental housekeeping standards
• Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules/regulations.
• Ensure all departmental supplies are adequately maintained
• Ensure all departmental equipment is properly maintained.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education
+ High school diploma or GED, required
+ Journeyman Machinist, Journeyman Tool and Die or 2-year technical degree, preferred
Experience & Skills
Seven to ten years of progressively responsible related experience. Specifically, this position requires:
+ Demonstrated managerial/leadership experience; minimum of 5 years of experience in a related role.
+ Extensive experience (5-10 years) machining
+ Extensive knowledge and ability with high tolerance (0.0005”) machining
+ Extensive mechanical aptitude
+ Extensive knowledge or experience with tooling and fixturing
+ Experience with hydraulics
+ Knowledge and understanding of motors and gearboxes
+ Experience in low volume and high mix environment
+ Extensive ability to read and interpret blueprints & mechanical drawings
+ Experience in process improvement and Lean Manufacturing
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Manager Responsibilities
Carry out team leader responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following:

+ Frequently stoop, kneel, bend or crouch

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. These include: forklift traffic, overhead cranes, machining, welding, moving of mechanical parts and moderate noise. The majority of the work is performed indoors in a shop and office environment. Will spend a minimal amount of time outdoors in hot, cold, or otherwise inclement weather during part of the workweek.

Valid driver’s license, preferred
Successful completion of IPM Overhead Crane Training, required
Successful completion of IPM’s Forklift Training, required
Valid Forklift license, required
Travel up to 20%
