    Where You Will Work

     

    Chino is an open-pit copper mining complex located 15 miles from the historic mining community of Silver City in southwestern New Mexico. The historic Chino mine was among the world's first low-grade, open-pit copper mines. Today, the operation consists of a 36,000-metric-ton-per-day concentrator that produces copper and a 150-million-pound-per-year solvent extraction/electrowinning plant that produces copper cathode from solution generated by run-of-mine leaching.

    What You Will Do

    + Responsible for performing inspections to maximize equipment and tire life and executes assignments from computerized dispatch system and/or two-way radio

    + Receives training, mentoring, and feedback from other operators, supervisors, and equipment trainers

    + Responsible for understanding changes to assigned work areas and any potential hazards

    + Responsible for knowing the following procedures: start-up and shut-down, fueling, fire, runaway, emergency, and accident

    + Responsible for having knowledge of payload measurement system, over speed alarm, dispatch codes, shovel and truck horn signals, secondary brake, and park brake

    + Responsible for the safe performance of the following tasks: spotting at shovel, loading, transporting material, dumping on stockpiles, and dumping at crusher

    + Perform other duties as required

    What You Bring To Freeport

    + Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English

    + Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures and applicable safety standards

    + Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + High School diploma or GED

     

    What We Offer You

     

    The estimated pay range for this role is currently  **$20.00 - $26.50/hour.**

    What We Require 

    + Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.

    + Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.

    + Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
