The Quality Engineer will play a vital role in supporting the Quality Manager to ensure that the products manufactured meet the established quality standards for customers. This position involves a mix of day-to-day responsibilities, technical skills, and interaction with various stakeholders to maintain and improve product quality.
Responsibilities
+ Understand and articulate certifications, customer manuals, and customer expectations.
+ Monitor the calibration system, perform calibrations, control and update IQMS for calibration, manage outsourced calibrations, and conduct gage R&R studies.
+ Maintain blueprints in the master file for correct revisions.
+ Perform receiving inspections, set up new inspections in IQMS, and monitor for updates or changes to prevent interruptions.
+ Monitor, analyze, and review X-R Bar charts.
+ Create control samples and boundary standards; prepare, train, and file quality alerts.
+ Make recommendations for product quality improvements through daily reports, audit results, and customer non-conformances.
+ Perform all PPAPs for the customer, including FMEA, Control Plan, Flow Charts, IMDS, and other necessary PPAP documents.
+ Review and approve supplier PPAPs submitted.
+ Support customer requests, investigate customer concerns and non-conformances, and manage corrective actions and follow-up closure requirements.
+ Support new programs from kick-off to launch by attending meetings, providing feedback, presenting ideas and risks, and updating task lists for progress and closure.
+ Select products for company layout verification plans, review results, and make recommendations for improvements or tooling repairs.
+ Set inspection criteria and numbers for each part number, review and update inspection plans in IQMS, and operator work instructions in Excel format.
+ Support sorting or reworking of parts as needed, fill out containment sort forms, evaluate and record.
+ Assist with inspection checks on the floor, including entering IQMS data.
+ Provide technical support for quality, process technicians, engineering, and production teams.
+ Assist with basic layout measurements and capability studies.
+ Collaborate with the Quality Manager, Quality Technicians, and partner Quality Engineers.
Essential Skills
+ Experience creating PPAPs.
+ Experience in containment.
+ Quality Engineering experience within the automotive industry and IATF standards.
+ Calibration experience.
+ Strong confidence and ability to negotiate with customers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate's Degree in Engineering (Nice to have).
+ Experience with FSSC (Nice to have).
Work Environment
The Quality Engineer will work alongside two other Quality Engineers and report to the Quality Manager.
The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with potential for up to 45 hours during busy periods.
The role may require travel to Detroit or Grand Rapids and supports both facilities in Vicksburg.
The company is a highly-automated injection molding operation located in southwest Michigan, serving automotive, medical, food grade, and consumer packaging industries.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vicksburg, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $34.62/hr.
