The CELA Energy, Connectivity, and Sustainability (ECS) team coordinates science-based, measurable, and scalable sustainability solutions and outcomes across the entire company.  We engage with all of Microsoft’s business groups on the environmental impacts of business operations, and advocate for positive environmental outcomes that can result from technology and policy development.

    The **Sustainability Narrative & Engagement Manager** will be responsible for helping craft and share Microsoft’s sustainability impact narrative and ensure the timely delivery across numerous channels and events. This position is highly matrixed, and will work within the ECS team, across CELA, with the sales and marketing organizations, and with the company’s business groups and engineering teams. Collaboration and organizational agility are important characteristics of this role.

    Responsibilities

    +  Orchestrate, land and deliver thought leadership content. This includes working with subject matter experts across topics to determine on the best way to land thought leadership with key audiences across assets, web, PR, social, and more.

    + Lead strategy for cross-company presence at key sustainability events. Microsoft sponsors and participates in several sustainability events, with the UNCFFF Climate COP and UNGA being the two most visible. This role will drive alignment on key messages, initiatives and speaking opportunities across regional teams, the sustainability team, government affairs and more.

    + Coordinate and contribute to the ECS Narrative. This position, which has the advantage of proximity and access across Microsoft, must tie together a broad range of disparate corporate activities into a single, thematically clear narrative that supports progress toward our commitments and business goals. It must also work closely with other centers of messaging excellence across Microsoft.

    + Oversee executive messaging projects. This position will need to support ad hoc messaging projects that stem from executive engagements in high profile settings.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    + Master's Degree AND 3+ years work experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR), philanthropies, corporate affairs, government affairs, business and international development, or related area

    + OR Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years work experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR), philanthropies, corporate affairs, government affairs, business and international development, or related area

    + OR equivalent experience.

    Preferred Job Requirements: 

    + Experience in digital marketing communications program management or related digital storytelling fields.

    + Subject matter expertise in climate technologies, products, and markets.

    + 5+ years of experience in a sustainability related field with domain expertise in climate or energy.

    + Strong collaboration and cross-company leadership skills.

    + Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

    + Attention to detail.

    + Experience working with cross functional teams on multi-stakeholder initiatives.

    Corporate Social Responsibility IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $105,800 - $204,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $136,200 - $223,300 per year.
