As a key member of the Physical Plant department, this position ensures the reliability, efficiency, and safety of electrical systems across campus—including academic buildings, research labs, residence halls, and public spaces.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
As an Electrician, you will:
+ Install, alter, maintain, and repair wring systems, public address systems, traffics signals, electric clocks, telephones, floodlights, and other electrical fixtures and equipment.
+ Provide support to Electrician Specialists and assist with work on high voltage systems under supervision of Electrician Specialists.
+ Use standard tools such as volt meters, amp meters, watt meters, and related equipment to trouble shoot and isolate problems and operate various types of electricians electrical systems.
+ Install and make repairs on nonmetallic cables such as romex, conduits (greenfield), and thin walls or rigid conduit.
+ Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical motor starters, related switchgears, and controls.
+ Install and repair campus computer network cabling (cat5 & cat6).
+ Maintain emergency generators; should be able to read schematics and blueprints.
+ Make electrical inspections of electrical equipment and appliances.
+ Repair outside lighting on entire campus.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position will be filled as a Probationary Appointment.
Work Schedule: The typical work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 7:30am to 4pm. May be required to work some overtime, weekends, or holidays.
Annual Salary: $40,914 - $73,632
