Summary This position is located at the Regional Accounting Office, Warfighter & Family Readiness (WFR), Joint Region Marianas (JRM). The mission of JRM WFR is to provide the highest quality programs and services to the military community through self-sustainment across all quality of life programs. Responsibilities Major duties and responsibilities are summarized below. The primary duty is that of a courier to receive, pick up and deliver official mail, parcel packages, register reading tapes, Daily Activity Reports (DARs), and other business related items for distribution to and from the Service Support Center, military/governmental facilities throughout the installations, post office, and other designated locations. Responsible for safeguarding transported items at all times. Operates various types of motor vehicles such as vans, sedans, station wagons and trucks weighing up to 10,000 pounds on local government roads, public roads and city streets in all types of traffic conditions on a regularly established schedule to safely transport items and/or passengers as required. Observes and ensures compliance with all traffic and safety regulations. Enforces use of seat belts when vehicle is in operation. Notifies supervisor of any and all traffic violations or damage to vehicle. Complete required trip records, preventive maintenance records and accident reports. Performs preventive maintenance on vehicle such as checking gas, oil, tires, battery, lights, and brakes. Submits requests for tune-ups and/or needed repairs. Reports any problems with vehicle to supervisor and/or the Regional Vehicle Control Officers (RCVO). Maintains cleanliness of assigned vehicle. May be required to collect deposit bags from Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) facilities and Child and Development Centers (CDs). Ensures accurate log of all deposit bags collected. Delivers change funds to facilities as required. When transporting deposit bags and/or change funds, required to ensure additional staff and/or assistant present. May be required to make special trips outside of regular established schedule. Provides administrative support to the Service Support Center, such as but not limited to filing, administration of copy and fax machines, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned. Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license. Skill in handling the controls for starting, stopping, backing and driving a motor vehicle in all types of traffic and road conditions. Knowledge of height, width, length and weight of the vehicle(s) in order to judge overhead and side clearances, turning radius, braking distance, and the safest distance to be maintained from a preceding vehicle. Ability to adjust driving methods and/or routes to determine the shortest and safest route. Ability to recognize hazardous conditions and change routes to avoid them. Knowledge of defensive driving techniques. Knowledge of safety and traffic rules and regulations. Skill to conduct preventive maintenance of vehicles. Ability to maintain reports and records. Ability to protect property, monies and equipment. Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to perform basic administrative tasks such as but not limited to filing, copying, faxing, etc. Light physical effort is required in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Moderate physical effort is required in operating the controls of the vehicle. May be required to lift objects up to 40 pounds unassisted and heavier objects with the assistance of others or weight handling equipment. Considerable effort may be required to change tires and make limited emergency repairs. Education No positive education requirements for this position.
