    ABOUT THE ROLE

    The QA Sensory Technician plays a vital role in ensuring finished products meet company, supplier, and customer quality, safety, and sanitation standards. This position supports the QA Sensory Technologist through sensory analysis, analytical testing, data compilation, and quality documentation. The QA Sensory Technician also assists in sensory training, customer concern investigations, and product development support, contributing to the overall excellence of Golden State Foods’ operations.

     

    WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

     

    Sensory Analysis & Data Management

     

    + Assist with scheduling and conducting sensory panels on finished products.

    + Compile sensory data to verify compliance with product quality standards.

    + Notify QA Sensory Technologist and/or management of trends or results outside release limits.

     

    External Sensory Evaluation

     

    + Attend product cuttings at customer or external sensory evaluation centers.

    + Participate in occasional travel as required.

     

    Target/Reference Sample Program

     

    + Monitor samples selected for target/reference use.

    + Send samples to customers for target selection and provide samples to other liquid suppliers in the system.

     

    Shelf-Life Studies

     

    + Perform analytical and sensory testing for new products and customer requests.

    + Compile data for shelf-life reports and communicate results to management and product development.

     

    Quality Records & Documentation

     

    + Maintain accurate records, logs, test data, reports, and specifications.

     

    Customer Concern Investigations

     

    + Evaluate retains, returned products, and raw materials to assess concern validity and investigate root cause.

     

    Sensory Training & Cross-Functional Support

     

    + Assist in conducting sensory training for internal panelists.

    + Collaborate with the training department to ensure personnel receive initial and annual refresher training.

    + Work with product development on sensory tests, specifications, and related activities.

     

    Compliance & Safety

     

    + Adhere to food safety, quality, health, and environmental standards.

    + Perform other related duties as assigned.

     

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED

    Education/Certification

    + Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field.

    Experience

    + 1–3 years of relevant work experience.

    + Understanding of food safety and regulations.

     

    Knowledge

     

    + Food safety concepts & techniques

    + HACCP programs & food safety regulations

    + Food microbiology

    + Food testing concepts

    + Food chemistry

    + Raw materials/product interaction

    + Sensory analysis/evaluation

    + PC word processing/spreadsheet software

     

    Skills & Abilities

     

    + Work independently and with cross-functional teams.

    + Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal and external customers.

    + Maintain high accuracy in reading and processing information.

    + Perform various food safety tests in a lab environment (some lifting required).

    + Deliver high-quality results in a customer-focused business setting.
