    Responsibilities:

    GENERAL PURPOSE

    Under general direction from leadership, and with considerable latitude for independent judgment and initiative, conducts specialized and highly complex analysis of financial data for the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience (which includes the Department of Neuroscience and the Center for Advanced Brain Imaging and Neurophysiology - CABIN, collectively referred to as the “Institute”). This position provides quantitative and qualitative analysis of current and proposed business operations, and oversees the ongoing review and analysis of financial performance for the Institute. Functions as compliance officer responsible for interpreting and ensuring compliance of all financial requirements as specified per UR policy. Using understanding of financial management, systems and systems relationships, decision support, and dashboard metrics, prepares and presents detailed financial reports including trending and variance analysis. Able to analyze complex data, understand relationships among sources of information, and make independent assessments. Works collaboratively with the Institute and URMC leadership and other departments, to provide evaluation and support of the Institute’s operations and interests.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    + Develops and maintains detailed analysis of various statistical and financial information to be used for financial reporting and reimbursement.

    + Develops the annual operating budgets, including the updated forecast for the current fiscal year.

    + Prepares and presents reports regularly to senior leadership regarding the overall finances of the Institute and makes recommendations for cost savings and/or business opportunities.

    + Develops business improvement plans at the direction of senior leadership.

    + Prepares conclusions, forecasts and makes financial recommendations based on research and understanding of the use of the funds.

    + Compiles, prepares, and presents reports, graphs and charts of data analyzed.

    + Examples of presentations, reports and charts include but are not limited to designing a detailed portfolio of reports on the state of the Center for Advanced Brain Imaging and Neurophysiology etc., detailing grant trends associated with expansion of the Neuroscience faculty and leveraging of the Del Monte Institute funds, and preparing the Funds Flow summary statements.

    + Conducts specialized financial analysis and research on subjects that will assist with financial and operational decisions with the Institute’s research, and education missions.

    + Takes current and new University policies into consideration and analyzes the financial impact of new initiatives.

    + Examples of specialized analyses include but are not limited to exquisite details on extensive faculty recruitment packages and uses of the Institute’s $10,000,000 portfolio, assisting with the expansion analysis of grants and numerous donations to the Institute.

    + Analyzes and interprets data, statistics and financial information.

    + Makes presentations to senior leadership and Principal Investigators on areas of research or analysis etc.

    + Assumes responsibility for special projects involving research, planning and recommending changes, for example, analyzing data from Schmitt Foundation research projects and other educational uses of these funds for reporting to the Foundation Board.

    + Prepares and presents analytical reports on special problems with recommendations for program or policy changes

    + Assumes responsibility for the project, establishes timetables, actively plans and coordinates the efforts of subordinate staff.

    + Keeps abreast of trends as they relate to financial management and adapts new developments into planning, control and analytical processes.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    + Bachelor's degree in finance functional area required, Masters preferred.

    + Fiveyearsofrelevantexperience;oranequivalentcombinationof educationandexperience. Required

    + Comfortableworkinginafastpacedenvironmentwithcomplex

    + finances. Required

    + Must be able to prepare and present materials clearly to all levels of the organizationandhave a provenrecord of taking initiative and being

    + Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Required

    + Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Required

    + Shows initiative and resourcefulness in managing priorities and takes responsibility for accomplishing his/her own work. Required

    + Works collaboratively and maintains confidentiality of information at all times. Required

    + Excellent communication skills focused on customer service. Required

    + Understanding of UR Finance helpful. Preferred
