    Ford Motor Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Seat Safety and Compliance Manager to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, compliance, and advanced development of our automotive seating systems. You will lead initiatives that integrate cutting-edge technology and rigorous safety standards, contributing directly to Ford's commitment to delivering world-class vehicles.

    Safety Strategy & Regulatory Compliance:

    + Support ASO in defining and implementing seat safety strategies to meet evolving regulations from organizations such as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regulations, and international governing bodies for automotive safety and compliance in regions which vehicles are sold.

    + Define strategy for occupant sensing and other Passive Integrated Restraint (PIA) components within seating systems.

    + Ensure compliance with key Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE) relevant to seating systems, including the updated FMVSS 208 (Occupant Crash Protection) with a focus on advanced occupant sensing systems, FMVSS 210 (Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages), and FMVSS 225 (Child Restraint Anchorage Systems).

    + Actively engage with the Global Crash Safety Tech Club and support the development of SDGs and PDGs related to seat safety.

    Advanced Technology Integration:

    + Lead the Hardware/Software module and electrical integration task force and initiatives, specifically focusing on the integration of DSM systems into seating.

    + Drive the alignment and strategy for functional safety assessments for seating systems, ensuring compliance with relevant automotive safety standards.

    + Support future strategies as it relates to advanced technologies and innovation to define next generation of automotive seating, including structural advancements, autonomous driving, and comfort features.

    Analysis, Testing & Validation:

    + Continuously improve CAE methodologies for seats to enhance support for Design Verification testing and overall compliance.

    + Support application teams by conducting and signing off on DFMEA and DVP&R reviews, ensuring strict alignment to SCCAFs.

    + Innovate new testing methodologies and protocols to ensure component level testing that replicates customer use cases and reduces warranty.

    Reporting & Documentation:

    + Lead all CCRG presentations and topics, providing timely and comprehensive global management updates as needed.

    + Create, review, and sign off on all CDP&Rs.

    + Sign off on all owner's manuals related to seating systems.

    + Review and approve all new FEDE requirements and design rules, ensuring robust implementation across product development.

    + Support the alignment and sign-off process between FEDE and JIRA requirements.

     

    You'll have...

     

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or related field).

     

    3+ years of experience in automotive safety or compliance focused on seating systems.

     

    Even better, you may have...

     

    Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or related field).

     

    Demonstrated experience with automotive safety regulations (IIHS, NHTSA FMVSS 208, 210, 225, Rear Impact and UNECE).

     

    Experience with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).

     

    Strong proficiency in CAE tools and methodologies for automotive seating.

     

    In-depth knowledge of DFMEA, SCCAF, and other quality and compliance processes.

     

    Proven leadership experience in managing technical projects and cross-functional teams.

    This position is a range of salary grades LL5.

    This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
