The Opportunity
As Business Development Manager, you will be the driving force behind our growth in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. This is a high-impact role for a strategic thinker and relationship builder who can open doors, create opportunities, and position our firm as the go-to partner for exceptional design.
What You’ll Do
+ Develop and execute a business development strategy for the Bay Area market
+ Identify and pursue new clients in targeted sectors; secure meetings and close opportunities with leadership support
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers and influencers; generate referrals from existing clients
+ Research markets, track opportunities, and maintain a robust pipeline through proactive outreach and networking
+ Deliver compelling presentations and proposals that showcase our design expertise
+ Attend and actively participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to expand our reach
+ Collaborate with leadership on proposal strategies and strategic alliances with developers, contractors, and design partners
+ Provide weekly reports on activities, opportunities, and progress toward goals
+ Mentor junior staff on professional development and BD best practices
+ Foster a culture of collaboration, results, and fun along the way
What We’re Looking For
+ Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Architecture, or related field
+ 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client relations—preferably in architecture, real estate, or construction
+ Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
+ Ability to listen actively and understand client needs to position the right solutions
+ Self-motivated, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CRM tools is a plus

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Irvine, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
We provide generous benefits for our fulltime employees. This position is eligible for company paid medical insurance, life insurance, accidental death & dismemberment, long-term disability, 401(K) retirement plan, and our employee assistance program (EAP). Employees are also eligible for employee paid enrollment in vision and dental insurance. Hensel Phelps also believes in the importance of taking time to recharge. As a result, employees are eligible for paid time off beginning upon hire. Employees are also eligible for a company cell phone or cell phone allowance in accordance with company policy. Based on position location, a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) may also be included (subject to periodic review and adjustment).
