    Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

    Job Description

    We are seeking skilled maintenance mechanics to perform primarily mechanical repairs on a variety of equipment. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing conveyor systems, mobile equipment such as forklifts and skid steers, and performing tasks such as replacing hydraulic hoses and fabricating light components.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform mechanical repairs on equipment.

    + Troubleshoot and repair conveyor systems, including swapping out drives and 3-phase motors.

    + Maintain and repair mobile equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, and mobile cranes.

    + Replace hydraulic hoses, perform light fabrication, and change out hydraulic cylinders on equipment.

    + Change blades and augers on shredder machines.

    + Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance (RM) with an 80/20 focus.

    + Handle challenging tasks such as changing belts on a conveyor line, swapping out head pulleys, or changing bearings.

    + Document all preventive maintenance and make notes on visual inspections for future planning.

    + Work on the second or third shift as required.

    Essential Skills

    + At least 4 years of mechanic or industrial maintenance experience.

    + General experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, including swapping hoses and replacing o-rings.

    + Experience performing preventive maintenance on equipment, such as checking fluid levels, greasing bearings, and changing belts.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Ability to troubleshoot 480v 3-phase motors.

    + Experience with VFD and PLC troubleshooting.

    + Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mobile equipment like cranes, yard trucks, and forklifts.

    + Basic computer skills for documentation purposes.

    Work Environment

     

    Work in a metal recycling facility that focuses on non-ferrous metals, both indoors and outdoors. Be prepared to work in a dusty, dirty, and loud environment. Shifts available are 2nd (3pm - 11:30pm) and 3rd (11pm - 7am), with the expectation to work at least 45 hours a week, including occasional mandatory Saturdays.
