Job Title: Field Service Technician (Level 3)
Join a leading manufacturer of custom-engineered electrical gear for the energy, industrial, and critical infrastructure sectors as a Field Service Technician. You will travel across the country to client sites, performing field installations, troubleshooting, and equipment commissioning. This role requires expertise in reading schematics and scopes of work to install and terminate control panels, breakers, power systems, transformers, motor control centers (MCC's), and switch gears. You will work closely with clients to troubleshoot issues, complete safety assessments, and produce field reports while coordinating with engineers at headquarters.
Essential Skills
+ 10 years of industrial electrical experience.
+ Proven field service experience.
+ Ability to independently install and terminate control panels, MCCs, breakers, transformers, and complex power systems.
+ Proficiency in testing using multimeters, megohmmeters, and phase testers.
+ Ability to read schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring layouts.
+ Willingness and ability to travel across the country.
+ Possession of a TWIC Card.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Extensive knowledge of installing electrical systems on client sites.
+ Ability to reverse engineer a problem and work proactively with clients to resolve issues.
+ OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
+ NFPA 70E certification.
+ Strong skills in paperwork and reporting.
Work Environment
The work environment involves sporadic travel, where you may be on the road for up to a month or spend weeks working in a medium-sized, clean, and organized shop. While in the field, you will engage with large customer sites in a client-facing role. The shop is non-climate controlled with open bay doors and plenty of fans, maintaining a fast-paced atmosphere. Safety attire includes steel-toed boots, jeans, a work shirt, and safety glasses. Field service typically occurs Monday through Friday, with varying work times based on client sites. Travel days might include extended hours to meet project deadlines, while home-based work in Houston may align closer to a standard 40-hour workweek. Hotel accommodations and a $150 daily per diem are provided when traveling.
