    $85,000 - 95,000

    Description

    The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Genetics at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC), is seeking two full-time genetic counselors to join our growing team at Golisano Children’s Hospital.

     

    URMC is a major regional provider of genetics services in upstate New York, with robust and highly regarded programs in pediatric and adult genetics, neurogenetics, ocular genetics, and prenatal/reproductive genetics. Our Division of Clinical Genetics encompasses Metabolic Genetics, Pediatric Genetics, Adult Genetics, and Cancer Genetics, and we are actively expanding our services to support additional specialty areas, including cardiogenetics, skeletal dysplasia, immunology, and more.

     

    The genetic counselors who join our team will share clinical and teaching responsibilities across both pediatric and adult general genetics clinics. In addition, counselors may support a variety of subspecialty clinics, such as nephrology, hearing loss, gastroenterology/hepatology, pulmonology, cardiology, rheumatology, craniofacial, endocrine, and immunology, depending on areas of interest and program needs.

     

    We are committed to supporting the professional growth of our genetic counselors. Opportunities for continuing education, research involvement, and local, national, and international teaching or presentation engagements are available and encouraged.

    Qualifications

    + Completion of an accredited genetic counseling training program.

    + Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, trainees, and colleagues.

    + Comfort working with individuals of all ages, from infants to adults.

    + Commitment to a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.

    + Ability to work efficiently within an electronic medical record system.

    + Prior post-training experience is welcome but not required.

    The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
