Starting hourly rate range : $19.05 - 29.95 Per hour
Please note that hourly rates for this position are based on type of degree and expected date of graduation.

Intern, Bridge Design
This is a full-time summer internship lasting from May 11, 2026, until August 28, 2026.
Job Summary
The Intern, Bridge Design is responsible for supporting the Bridge Design team in managing the various design facets that result in construction activities. The incumbent will have the opportunity to work with internal and external resources to develop engineering drawings and construction documents. Additional tasks include collaborating on the maintenance of design and drawing archives for bridge project work along CN’s network.
Major Responsibilities
+ Compile and compare existing box culvert designs, and develop a guideline and standard for Precast Boxes
+ Review box culvert designs
+ Review layout and arrangements of timber trestle replacements
+ Review steel though plate girder span designs and shop drawings
Requirements
+ Knowledge of American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) guidelines for railway structures and other North American structural design codes*
+ Experience in structural analysis
+ Knowledge of design software, preferably Systems, Applications and Products (SAP)*
+ Knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting, preferably AutoCAD*
+ Verbal and written communication, and analytical skills
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Education
+ Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (minimum 3 years completed) with a major in Structural Engineering
+ Structural Analysis and Structural Design courses completed
